Hello again... I have a question.. before I was dxed with MS I had severe pain in my left arm. I guess the next term I could use is with the pain, came a "heaviness" They first said my wrist was broken, then that I had a pinched nerve in my elbow, and did surgery on it. WEll after a painful recovery and a nasty scar.. I still have all this going on which they now say is MS related.

my question is.. with the pain, I just don't want to move my arm at all. Is that what the "heaviness" is? I mean I really just don't want to do anything and I know nothing is going to stop the pain. It's only in my left arm, my wrist and elbow, down into my hand just kills me. I am having all those little " knifelike" stabbing pains again that I haven't had in while. Is this a flareup? or a progression? I was on Prednizone for 5 days.. was OK during those 5 days, but still had some problems, but since I'm off.. it's like the symptoms never changed. This is so frustrating. !

Have you ever taken anything for spasticity? Baclofen is a good med to take for that. Other than just an OTC anti-inflammatory I'm not sure of anything else but Baclofen.

Just FYI.....I don't take much in the way of meds except OTC pain relievers and occasionally Baclofen if the spasticity gets bad enough due to weather related changes or an infection.

some things come to my mind:
does your neuro know? if your sx's (symptoms) are sensory there are meds that can help it; like lyrica or neurontin.

also, i wonder if some PT could help you.

does a cold pac or a hot pac help?

I went to see my regular doc, and they are discussing on whether I need to go by to my neuro. I have taken lyrica and i just don't like it. It didn't really help much at all. It has been years since I have taken Neurotin, but I guess I'll see after I talk to the doctors tomorrow.

As for the Ice or heat... I can't really pinpoint any place to put heat or ice.. it's just a stabbing pain that just doesn't go away...

OKay, my regular doc put me on Baclofen but it's only so so... i'm still having pain in my arm, lots of fatigue, and yeah that dreaded ms hug! at any time all day long! I went back and forth from one doc to the other on Friday so I have to call again tomorrow to make sure my regular docs have sent my medical history... why.... I don't know.. they are all part of the same hospital organization and just because I haven't seen my neauro in a year, i have to have referral. I think I should have more than just phone calls to and from my neuro to change meds. The last time I talked to him was when I changed from Avonex to Copaxone. and I see where people have mri's about once a year... is that what it should be? I mean I don't know if this is a flar or a progression! GRRRRRRRRR sometimes it' so frustrating!
