This table does not give info on the 10 cases of pml this Oct of which most are in EU and most of those Germany. It does show the 11 cases since re-introduction July 2006 and the 3 pml cases from the trials.

It is missing more than just the 10 additional confirmed cases ...

Additionally, there were the 2 in Sept that the FDA told us about, and the one from last weekend. All tolled, there should be 27 cases (including the trial patients) that we know about.

Cheri, I just read an article from Oct 30th from the EMEA on the 24th pml case linked to Tysabri. The 2 in Sept are included in the 24.
Where did you get your information from? I Googled Tysabri and pml.

The spreadsheet you attached included the 3 from the trials (which indicated that there were 14 at the end of July). However, the way Biogen was counting, they did not include the 3 from the trials in their weekly summary's that they were posting on their website until July 23rd. Their count was "11" because they excluded the 3 from the trials.

In late Sept there were two more announced by the FDA, bringing the total to 13 (or 16 including the trial patients).

Then the story broke on 10 more about a week and a 1/2 ago, bringing the total to 23 (or 26 including the trial patients).

Last week there was an announcement of one more, bringing the total to 24 (or 27 including the trial patients).

Ok, so let's do this the other way.

If there were 14 cases (including the trial patients) as of the end of July, just add on the one's that have occurred since then ...

There were the two that were announced in Sept by the FDA = 16

Then there were the 10 that were announced a few weeks ago = 26

Then there was the one from last weekend = 27

(INCLUDING the trial patients).

Which one's of those are you not aware of so I can find you the links ...?

This recent NMSS link does not detail they got to a number of 24, EXCEPT to say that there are 24 confirmed cases "among people who have used Tysabri® after it became available for prescription in July 2006:

However, before it became availabe for prescription, (i.e. the trial patients), there were also the first 3 cases. 24 + 3 = 27

For the current ongoing counts that are kept though, they always knock off the original trial patient PML cases, although I am not sure why. At one time they thought those 3 were "exceptional" cases, perhaps because they were on combined therapy vs. monotherapy .... however we know now that PML is going to occur anyway so it's probably "6 of one, 1/2 dozen of another".
