Lyrica

:) Hi All,

I used to post occasionally on the old BrainTalk.

I have been taking Lyrica for about a year now. It has helped me

tremendously. I started on it because of the burning in my feet. It had

become difficult to wear shoes at times.

I did have to reduce my original dose because I am on Wellbutrin, if Lyrica is

taken too close the combination can lower your blood pressure. That has

been the only side effect I have experienced and it was easily taken care of

by timing my doses.

I was so happy to find this board, hope the news gets around to everyone.

My wife began to use Lyrica about 6 months ago. It was recommended by the Pain Clinic here in London, Canada. She had suffered with bad spasms and the associated pain for 5 years since breaking her leg. (also SPMS)

The Lyrica has allowed her to sleep without spasms. The only downside is that to try and help the day-time spasms, she tried to up the dosage but simply can't tolerate more than 75 mg, x2 a day. At least she can get a good night's sleep now.

Hi. Sorry to jump in, but I saw someone else mentioned Topamax, and I was also going to suggest it as an alternative. I have been on it for years -- for pain, seizures, and myoclonus -- and I have found it to be a fantastic med.

Instead of being metabolized by the liver, it goes through the kidneys, so it seems like a better bet -- you have to drink lots of water, but overall it's better for you.

From the first day I started Topamax, I began sleeping better at night. It has changed my life. One more option for us to check. :-)
