Glad it's not a UTI but that doesn't help you all that much, does it?

i've taken miralax at times instead of metamucil and have found it to be very effective.

I've never tried it, but I certainly have the same problem with the bowl of rocks, (I think that is so funny). Stool softeners don't do anything for me, I think I will try it, who knows.

I have found that acidopholus or lactobacillus helps. yogurt is a wonderful thing with live cultures, but clearly I am not going to be able to take miralax on a regular basis.

Just found this thread. Doctor told me to take miralax after my sigmoidscopy that I had on Tuesday. I was wondering how long I should take it. I am experiencing less pain and no bleeding, but am dealing with feeling of fullnes, bloating, etc. I assume he wants me stay on it until I am pain free. I am supposed to call his office on Monday and report on "my progress."

They say the bloat and fullness will go away after you start to get empty. I cut my dose in half because I couldnt deal with that level of bloat.

I added yogurt, and fiber tablets to my routine. Benefiber has a nice product that is tasteless, and you wont notice it. also tablets can be swallowed and done with. The miralax will pull in water, and the fiber will sweep you out.

I hope you feel better quick.

Default miralax

So far...so good.
Hi D, Miralax is considered very neutral compared to most other rx for constipation. Mostly bulking and smoothing the way so to speak. There was mention of Senna and for the record this is an herb which if too much is taken will cause cramping and discomfort. More of a forced evacuation. I would avoid this for obvious reasons. There is an Ayurvedic combination of herbs which helps detox and clear the colon which is called Triphala. A combination of three herbs. One of which, Amalaki, based on a powerful vitamin. C fruit. Anyway with this formula one hopes to achieve a more detoxed, tonified colon and thus less symptoms overall.

Again must work up to a regular dose or risk reactions. Personally, I prefer the method of eating gently warmed prunes in juice first thing in the am. For some reason the trick is to consume a half cup or so of warmed prune juice. Works like a charm!

BTW- so sorry you are in a flare and hope your plans for a trip to de-stress will be the motivation to get feeling better on all levels very soon! Best WishesTT

why does the active ingredient remind me of anti freeze?

Anyone else take this?

Tell me your experience please.

Well, we all know i am just as backwards as can be... 6 days in a row, one dose on day one, two on day two.... I was taking 3 doses a day at the end... and still NOTHING! It just doesn't work for me for some reason.

I think I am going to have to try to cut the miralax in half and see if that helps. Level of bloat/uncomfortableness is not tolerable especially when I am at school. However it does help things work more smoothly and that level of pain has improved. Called Doctor's office for advice; waiting to hear back. Deb, How much benefiber are you taking.? I am taking two pills a day.
