Exciting news on our televisions and in our newspapers yesterday :
A Canberra teenager with multiple sclerosis has received a new stem cell treatment which appears to have reversed the disease. Ben Leahy, 19, was diagnosed with MS in 2008 and ended up in intensive care at one point with respiratory failure after his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was in a wheelchair when he underwent the procedure this year and today he is walking and recovering well. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/he...treatment.html http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/...?site=canberra

that's awesome ... and I've heard that stem cells are now more easily retrieveable from a living person ...

I agree Sally!
It's just wonderful that this stem cell transplant has worked but even so, I am not getting my hopes up. I know as well as everyone else that hopes can be smashed and I'm happy to sit back and see how things proceed from now. We've all been there before! It's a fabulous start though, and certainly something to watch in the future....

I've wanted a reason to go to Australia, now I have one. Yippee. I hope they find our cure.

That's is exciting.
At 76 I’m too old but I’m happy for all the young people that need to fight the monster. Good luck to everyone and let’s keep the information coming to the board. BOB
