Default Financial statement of the RMMS center

As I read the statement it appeared to me that more than 50% of the money they receive goes to expenses with salaries being right at 50%. If I'm wrong please let me know and I hope I am.
Here is the site:

Thanks,
Linda

I'm going to add OUR state financial report for last year. This is enough to make me weep.

http://www.ms.asn.au/librarymanager/...l%20Report.pdf

We're talking an income of 5.3 million dollars.
salaries taking 3.3 million
and best of all...

fundraising expenses taking 1.1 million (MILLION) dollars.

1.1 million spent to raise how much money for what?????

I don't get it. I too am hoping I've read it all wrong, but I doubt that I have.

These kinds of figures don't make sense to me especially when you consider that there are only 15000 diagnosed MS'ers in the whole of australia and only 2,500 clients on the books at the SA and NT society.

Share out the 5,000,000 between 2.500 and dump the employees I reckon. I could fundraise for less than 1.1 million. I'm cheap. and i'll give half of my $2000 to research.

Hi Linda,

I think you're combining the salaries for admin with the salaries paid to provide services. I only looked the statements over quickly, but I thought the admin salaries looked fairly low.

The majority of the salaries were paid to staff who run the various programs available to help people with MS, research, etc. Salaries for adult day care were nearly $704,000 (KADEP)

And ours ran at a loss last year. $80,000. How can $5million go so quick?

They're moving locations and keep sending me donation requests so that I can fund the new outfit.

I don't mean to sound bitter and I'm sure they do great work for some people but I do think they could run it more efficiently.
The 5 million should go a lot further I reckon. They're paying people to do a job to provide a service to a fraction of the 2,500 members. I don't get anything from them. They've rung me twice to see how I'm going. That's a dollar cost. AND I paid $5 to JOIN !! They're up $4 already!!

Thanks Carol. I prefer my dollars go to research. I am planning on supporting the MRF-Myelin Repair Foundation once I go to charitynavigator.org to see how the money is spent...pretty sure it'll be acceptable to me after all I've read about it
