My brother and I went thru this stuff, he called this the Sigmund Freud-oscopy.
Yes, we needed little things to entertain and help us. It's really no fun on it's own.

I was able to mix mine with white grape jiuce. GAG! I will never drink grape juice again. I was up all night; I assume this is because I got a late start. The nurse told me that the procedure is not usually too bad, but it would be painful for me since I am not in good shape. I have gone through this prep three times before, but it was never painful like this. She told me if it was hurting too much to tell him to stop. I am still going to try to convince him to sedate me. This particular doctor is a bit of a Napoleon (short man; huge ego)so I am not sure he will cooperate. I have a driver, and if my insurance does not want to cover it, I will pay for the sedation myself.

Sorry I'm late coming into this Barb but I want you to know that I'm thinking of you. I hope they give you the sedation that they use for colonoscopies because after what you've been through, I daresay you're going to need something.

Sending up prayers that the procedure will not be too uncomfortable, and if they find a problem then whatever they find is something minor that's easily fixed.

Lots of gentle hugs Barb.

I hope everything goes well and that Napoleon knocks you out. I, too, would be willing to pay out of pocket for sedation! I can't believe they don't normally sedate you for that.

Thinking of you, Barb, and hoping all is going well. And hoping that you are nicely sedated and not aware of anything that's going on! Please update us when you feel able. You're in my prayers.

Oh Barb, I hope the test isn't as bad as it sounds. Please check in when you can.

Thanks everyone for your support. I am home and ready to go to bed. No sedation but he did numb the area which helped some. The pain actually was not any worse than what it has been going to the potty. Good news -- only had to do the sigmoidoscopy and no sign of cancer. Bad news -- several large hemorrhoids and a fissure. He made me look at them on the tv screen. He and the nurses were all exclaiming about how huge they were. Came home with a new presumption for some type of foam, ky jelly and gloves, a numbing agent that I can use for two days, fiber supplement and mild laxative. Am I going to have fun!!! I am supposed to see him next Monday if I have not improved significantly. Now I am off to take a sitz bath.
