Default appointment on Wednesday AM

Well I'm finally going to get my appointment about the pain in my leg. The pain is pretty much gone but the weakness in the other leg persists. We played miniature golf tonight and by the time we were done I couldn't hardly lift my right leg. I did mange to get 4 holes in one. And my husband only got 2. But he still beat me 32 to 41.

My appointment is 8:45 in the morning. that's about 3 hours before I usually get up!!!!!!! So I know I won't have any weakness unless I go walk the mall before.

Ah - a fellow mall walker. For some reason I keep doing it even though it causes pain. I seem to think it is exercise, and it is the only 'exercise' I get other than jumping to conclusions. :icon_wink:

Good luck with your appointment.

Well my appointment went well. Well except for the fact that it was 8:45 AM!!!!!!!! Since the pain was almost completely gone in my leg she could only speculate as to what that was. When I showed her where the injection had been, she was able to exactly show me the entire area that I would have had pain in.

But as to the weakness in my right leg. I don't know why I didn't think about it but she said that since it didn't improve with the steroids, it would not be MS related. So I am scheduled for an EMG. I have heard some horror stories about it but when I had my diagnosis 10 years ago, she did an EMG on me then and she was pretty gentle. so I trust her to do it again.

Hello Doydie,
I'm glad your appointment went well, but sorry she was unable to pinpoint the source of your leg pain. I haven't had an EMG myself, but have assisted in doing several. I'm sure you'll do fine. From what I witnessed, the patients only experienced some very minor discomfort when the shock was applied.

I wish you much luck in your search to solve this mysterious pain.

All the best,
Chris

Chris, is a nerve conduction study usually done with the EMG? I do remember that the NCS was the one that really hurt.

Hello Doydie,
Yes, as the NCR is part of the EMG. The EMG is almost like an EKG of one's muscle during a NCR if you will. The EMG is a study of the reaction of one's muscles during the NCR. If you would like further explanation, please feel free to email me here on the site. I would be more than happy to explain further to the best of my knowledge. Good luck.

All the best,
Chris
