DH's company switched from BC/BS to Aetna about 12 months ago.

No difference except that if I want to see a doctor that is not on the list, I must call Aetna for approval. I call the doctor office first to see if he/she will take Aetna insurance before anything else.

It is easier to go to ones within the network.

As far as drugs, even those have to be approved by Aetna. I wanted to get a bone scan for osteoperosis but I had to meet certain requirements before being eligible for the test. I fit the criteria. I have bone loss and MUST use Fossimax unless it gives me stomach problems. It does not.

So, you can see I jump through hoops and since public health care is dying because of certain nameless senators, I have no choice.

I just had to add my political vent!:D

I have aetna/medco. There are lots of tiers, and we have a good plan.

Medco is way cheaper than anything I've had in years - it's like the good ol days. I was paying $60 a month for one rx, now $20 for 3 months.

:)

Only trouble i had was figuring out who's on the dr list. Their website is tough for me. I just call the doc now and ask them, lol. Everyone I asked so far though said yes.
I've been dealing with this in-network, out of network dr thing for 20 yrs, with every ins we've had, so no big deal for me. You can go to any doc, you just pay higher out of pocket.

I have never had an rx or med get lost in the mail (but I have a PO box, maybe safer?). And if I don't have any refills left, Medco calls the doc for me to get another.

Also, my plan would cover ABCRs, last plan not at all. Nothing.

I get email reminders when it's time to refill too.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch at the end of January (end of my training period too) ... unless of course I mess up horribly and get fired before then. :p :picknose: :Scratch-Head: :OuttaHere:

I don't expect that to happen though. My manager is very good and all the people I've met in the company are awesome actually. :)

Well, I switched to the work plan and I have Medco for prescriptions.

I called Shared Solutions about a week ago and gave them my new ID numbers and told them I needed more Copaxone.

I got an email yesterday telling me my RX was pending and I checked their website. I have a 90 day supply that will ship soon for $120 copay through mail-order specialty service.

It was pretty easy actually. And I haven't been fired yet. (Crossing fingers and knocking on wood.) :o

I received my Copaxone today from Accredo and it was very easy. They sent a 90 day supply for $120. So far I like them better than Curascripts that I had before.

With them I only got 30 days at a time so had to call to set it up each month. Also, they'd started sending it UPS 2 day to save themselves money.

I have an RX to send in to Medco so we'll see how that goes. I'm guessing it will be ok though if it's anything like this one.

I have Aetna insurance through DH's duPont retirement. As we both are on Medicare; him because of age and my disability. Aetna is our secondaryinsurance plan.

We are fortunate to have a good plan as long as it is filed correctly so I make sure billing departments understands to bill Medicare first and then Aetna.

We get our prescriptions from Medco by mail which is wonderful. Our Doctors just fax requested 'scripts and they send them every 90 days and in most cases are a lot cheaper than the local pharmacies.

Mom has Aetna and Medco too as Dad retired from duPont so hers come through the mail too and when she is at my sisters I just change addresses for her online and she gets scripts in Iowa too. Works out great.
