Default Me and meds just don't get along :(

Well, it's been a fun three years with the DMD's. If you've been following or heard rumor of my med saga - it's been hectic.

First med was Copax. Was doing pretty well on it, then last year I had too many IPIRs back to back. It was to the point that I was having one every other time I took the shot. So that option went out the window. Then this past week, I've had an allergic reaction to Rebif. Even took the chance and tried a shot from a new batch as a just in case we had a bad one. Nope. Still had the reaction.

Neuro was pushing Ty, but -after much discussion- my hubby and I agreed that the PML chance was too high for someone like me who has a wealth of rare side effects under her belt for a ton of meds. Waiting to hear what to do from here, but it looks like I'm gonna be a med free person here on out.

Of course my biggest issue is that my MRIs have been stable since September of '07. Not looking forward to that changing, but the meds and I just aren't working well together. I've been fortunate that both DMD's kept stuff from appearing, and from the beginning - even with my doubts - I believed trying the drugs would be worth it if they gave me even 2 years that I wouldn't have had without them. Not gonna miss the shots, but will miss the peace of mind I had.

Thanks for listening.

Sorry Fin! Hope it all works out for ya. And don't feel bad, the dmds don't slow down the progression for some of us... (those weird individuals such as myself). I haven't had a stable MRI ever!

Cheers to no more shots! PS-> you're not missing much on the TY, you would think for the amount of money they charge it would at least make you feel good, give you an energy boost or something! But no, it makes you exhausted and that's about it.

Sally I asked the same thing on Daily stirrings (or whatever it's called-darn it, I can't remember)...
or maybe when the oral drugs come out later this year you'll be better off on them...
whichever, we love ya, girl, and don't want you to suffer the way you've been

I'm not sure if my neuro is one of those who believe in LDN or not. Never came up since I was trying the shots first. Definitely an idea.

Update: My neuro fired me. At least he's refering me elsewhere, but guessing that not taking his advice was the straw that broke the camel's back. At least it's the local MS center.

These Neuro's (who, BTW, don't know enough about MS) sure do get their knickers in a knot when we don't follow their advice.

IMHO, I am the best judge of what works or doesn't work for me. These Neuro's are learning from us......contrary to what they may like to think.

He's not the office's specialist. I've met that guy before, and he's more on the game. Still when they were talking about consults with that gentleman, it was all about talking to him about Ty. So I was a little surprised they decided to just dump me completely elsewhere when I said no to the Ty instead of keeping me in their office. Maybe I was a little trouble maker. At least the center is just literally down the road from me, and I never even knew it was that close.
