Still no answers :(
I have waited for almost 4 weeks, for my dr. to ponder my MRI, and she still won't say it. She eludes to it. I asked her if I need a neurologist to give me the diagnosis, she said that when she suspects she usually sends people to a neurologist. She is sending my MRI to a radiologist (neurology) to John Hopkins, for a second opinion. I think she wants me to go back to Mayo, I was there twice last year. Meanwhile My head is spinning, literally. She also wants me to get a Functional Assessment so they can evaluate where my problems are. My problem is I can't keep continue living this way. I can't walk, I am so dizzy I can't do my daily chores It makes me so upset.
My daughter is getting married in June, I just wanted some answers so I can get on with my life. I don't know why this is making me feel like I am in Limbo, but it does. Sorry needed to vent! Deb |
I was 46 at my DX. My MS Neurologist never sAID TOO OLD. eVOKED POTENIALS, MANY TESTS ON BLOOD, lp, mri ALL AGREED - ms. )(aTTACK of the Caps. Sorry)

That sucks, Deb. I hope you get some answers soon..
Congrats on the upcoming wedding. :) |
Hi Deb,
Thanks for letting us know what has happened since your last MRI. So the doctor who sent you for these tests was not a Neurologist? Now they are sending the films to John Hopkins? Figures. There are so many doctors/Neuro's and even MS Specialists who are afraid to "CALL" a diagnosis too soon. They are not sure since there are many mimics. She probably knows but wants that second opinion to verify your diagnosis. You don't want the wrong dx, but you need answers. I don't blame you at all. And with your daughters wedding coming up in June, it would be nice to get rid of the lousy dizziness. I had Vertigo for the first time during my last relapse. The dizziness was awful, and I had a mild case of it. I hope they find a medication or treatment plan for you. You can't stay dizzy this long. I had to do IV steroids and it went away. |
Has your doctor prescribed a course of IV steroids to at least help to allay the symptoms you are suffering at this time?
Even if he/she isn't willing to say MS, the least the doc should do is actually TREAT the symptoms! You may find that steroids will help. I'm sorry to hear that it is so hard for you to get a diagnosis. You'll hear lots of voices here with the same story. Good luck and let us know how it goes! |
Always leave with mri's or any scan including xray on cd. I always do and look myself. They can put previous ones on same cd too if not too many images or just make you 2 discs. I have 2 mri, 1 ct, 1 pet on a single disc.
Besides dots, a spinal tap follows (at least for me it did) which showed my myelin basic protein in the 20's. Should be almost 0. (though i know a woman with MS and spinal tap was norm) Always get your scans put on disc. I show doctors how you compile the slices into 3D model you can rotate, change densities, ect. Amazes people always. Fun. I wish you luck |
Eddie that sounds like a great idea. I get the CD or the films, or both. Lately the CD is the thing.
You must be good with computers to be able to show the doctors how to make them into a 3-D version. That's terrific.:) |
Steroids
No, she had me try 10 days of higher dosage pills. It didn't help with the dizziness, but I did feel a little better, pain wise.

deb, I am undx but the dizzies, I have two types of spells... but if you are badly dizzy have you seen a ENT... and there are meds for dizziness that can help.. be it the antivert to try first and if that does not do it .. they gave me low dose of valium and on prednisone pack and that tapered away the dizzies... something you should not have to be dizzy for long time with out some relief..hugss,sarah
