The new and "improved" cost of Provigil has made it necessary for me to find an alternative drug. Provigil has been a godsend for me, and I am quite leery about taking something else, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I now have a prescription for Amantadine. Has anyone had experience with this drug?

That's a bummer, Marion, I was on A when I discovered Pro and there is a major difference to me.
The A works for me but not nearly as well. The only side-effect the A caused me was very vivid, peculiar dreams. Fortunately, my mind is programmed in full Pollyanna so my weird dreams were quite entertaining. Sometime ask me about the one where I was competing in manual wheelchair icecapades. It was a stellar performance! ![]()

I've tried them both and Provigil worked much better for me. Amantadine was like taking nothing at all.
I know what you mean about the cost. I got my rx for Provigil refilled religiously when I had insurance and the cost was just $10. I saw how much it would have cost me without insurance and nearly fainted. No way could I afford that. So....I have a huge stockpile of Provigil now. I hardly ever take it anymore. I wonder how long the shelf life is for it?

I never got to try P, but Amant didnt seem to do very much. I felt I was better off drinking a caffiene drink, and a pep talk.
My friend is on Aman, and LOVES it! it has made a large turn around in how she feels. I think its one of those love/hate things.

I had to stop taking Amantadine because the dreams were so vivid that I found myself quoting "dead people's opinions" on current events.
I could not seperate dream events from real events. jackD

Amantadine made me very jittery and caused my legs to cramp. I now take Provigil and for me it's much better. I hope it works out for you taking Amantadine.
