I have been dizzy and clumbsy for 4 years. I had fallen a number of times, Dr. ordered a MRI in 2007, showed lots of hyper intensities in white matter, Sent me to specialist, says I'm too old for MS. I was 50 at the time, now at 53, and my Third MRI it says More spots, larger and are perpendicular to ventricles, he states it looks like demylimation and actually says MS. Do you think the dr. will decided this time. I had spinal tap last year, said, no bands. I'm about ready to give up. Having so much trouble with the dizziness, can barely remain upright now. I just want to get better. Any ideas? Deb

![]() ![]() Did they use contrast with your MRI's? They would have injected it intravenously if they did. An MS diagnosis is usually an elimination of other conditions first....so it takes a while. I don't think you're too old to get that diagnosis. You could have had MS for a long time before anyone diagnosed it. I know I did. I was 45 when I was given my dx. I hope they determine what's causing your symptoms. It's hard not to know or have a name for what's going on. Hang in there. It's a lengthy process for many of us who've eventually gotten the MS dx.

No, No medicines, had this going on for three years, makes me wonder if I had been given medicine long ago, if It could have started helping me. Instead it's all getting progressively worse. I hope I hear from Dr. soon.. Deb

I was dx when I was 50. Sounds like your specialists needs to go back to med school!

No, no contrast this time. I had it the first two though. They did a blood test before, creatine? Don't know if it wasn't right, so they didn't use it this time. That kind of made me wonder if they couldn't make a diagnosis without it?

I have waited for almost 4 weeks, for my dr. to ponder my MRI, and she still won't say it. She eludes to it. I asked her if I need a neurologist to give me the diagnosis, she said that when she suspects she usually sends people to a neurologist. She is sending my MRI to a radiologist (neurology) to John Hopkins, for a second opinion. I think she wants me to go back to Mayo, I was there twice last year. Meanwhile My head is spinning, literally. She also wants me to get a Functional Assessment so they can evaluate where my problems are. My problem is I can't keep continue living this way. I can't walk, I am so dizzy I can't do my daily chores It makes me so upset.
My daughter is getting married in June, I just wanted some answers so I can get on with my life. I don't know why this is making me feel like I am in Limbo, but it does. Sorry needed to vent! Deb |
