Default Neurological itch

I'm so itchy!!!

It's been mostly on the left side of my neck and ear, but now it's starting to cross over across the front of my neck to the right side. I've tried benadryl and my aunt (a nurse practitioner) suggested that I take an aspirin. She said that a lot of her patients who've had the same problem swear it works. I cant really swear to that myself tho.

I think this is what was going on last summer when I got that puppy and thought I was allergic to him...ended up giving him away. That itch was on my back and arms then, never had any hives tho, and I dont have any now either.

It's driving me nuts! It's almost five am here and I'm still awake because I'm still itching like crazy. At least it's not the horrible neurological pain I was getting last month. But, geeze....stop the torture already!!! I confess! I confess!! I shot J.R.! I was on the grassy knoll! I confess to the Jack the Ripper murders! make it stop!!!!

(really, I think I was 10 when J.R. was shot on "Dallas"...and the other two, I was born in 1969...years after those incidents...but I'll admit to them if the itching would stop.)

If you are going to do aspirin, try taking it as AlkaSelzer original formula type.

2 plop plop fizz fizzes...

I use this for burning, and the hit of bicarb blocks the histamine receptors temporarily, and stops the irritating skin reactions.

I've used AlkaSelzer for this for years.

I've had the itch before and it's maddening. Mine is always in the center of my back.....that area right above the bra line that is impossible to reach unless you're a contortionist. I've also had it on my left arm. It's like an itch that can't be relieved by scratching. The only relief I got was if I took a Phenergan tablet and slept for half the day.

Hope you feel better soon.

I just woke up. I think the aspirin and benadryl wore off. Because it was a burning itch in my shoulder and neck that woke me up. (shoulder feels lighter this morning, like some of the numbness let up, so that may be one good thing)

I'm still really itchy. Now that I'm awake it's starting up again really bad...and my skin is sore where I scratched it before I feel asleep this morning.

I dont know which is worse, pain from spasticity or itching. At least baclofen and valium seem to help the spasticity. I'm still not sure the aspirin or benadryl help much. (I'd have tried neurontin if the neurontin didnt make my feet swell up like big balloons everytime I take one. I'd rather itch)
