Default can baclofen cause your muscles to hurt??

weird question I guess... been on baclofen for year or so... started on it with neuro due to stiffness in ankles, back and body when waking!! worked wonders at first.. eventually started getting stiffness/spasms in back and neck... (or maybe had that too before starting baclofen, not sure memory bad wish I had kept notes)

anyhow, they upped the dosage... anyhow does anyone have muscles that hurt more since being on baclofen??? or worse stiffening... etc... hugss, sarah

I would guess that the baclofen is not causing your increased pain and stiffness; it just may not be working. I have also experienced increased spasticity while on 60 mg. I am now down to 10 mg, and I am experiencing more pain but the stiffness is about the same. So I suppose it was helping me a little. I will be completely off of baclofen on Monday, and then will start taking a low dose if zanaflex on Friday. He want me to be off of baclofen for 5 days before I start.

love you Barb, and hoping the zanaflex helps... maybe I will read up on that...
so if I feel that this med is not doing enough and he last time said no sense in upping it.. that I would not be helped with more just more side effects possible... then should I call him and tell him I am thinking of weaning off and seeing how I am.... just the pain is bad when I do lots at work... but nothing seems to help it much... and I had decreased as I told you to three from five and no worse... so just thinking too of weaning and sometime maybe try something else....
hugsss good luck with the next step for you, sarah

I think one of the reactions to Baclofen is increased weakness.

Kind of a trade of one problem for another. Some relief from spasms versus weakness.

Then again, who knows if it is the medicine or MS causing the increase of weakness.

Aarcyn is right. You may experience increased weakness with any med for spasticity. But then again, it may be something else causing it.
