Ana: You are so funny!!!! Asylum?? Many times I think my hubby would want to send me there too- especially when I've taken the steroids. Hence- no more of them. Wonder why? Yes- that is how I act. Hysterical laughter out of no where, make no sense whatsoever, crabby-pants-spongebob-pants, crabbier than crabby pants, snippy over the drop of a spoon (it makes me completely nuts!) and weight gain. Every time I have taken that drug I always gain 10 pounds- not changing anything in my diet. Grrr..

You are a sweetheart Ana. Don't let the side effects of that drug hinder your judgement on who you are as a person. It is the drug trying to manipulate your moods/emotions/body functioning. Just tell your boyfriend he is doing well and handling everything like a real trooper. Where would we be without our men?!? Maybe the north pole?! Due to pure craziness!!

Erin: I have also been taking Balcofen. 5 mgs in am/5 pm. One day I felt so yucky and miserable I took the entire 10 mg pill. That day when I did it I felt so much better- all around. Now I see why you like the med Erin. It really does make a huge difference.

I'm with you Erin about when to take some of these meds: If/when going somewhere that requires driving/walking- take 1/2 pill or none at all until you arrive then take the 1/2 pill or just wait til you get home and suffer thru it. It is better than being zonked out of your head. The Balcfen makes me sleep so sound at night it is amazing- definitely understand why you said that. My body is so screwed up right now I need to take it when I can- but have been busy and haven't in the am until mid afternoon- due to errands/doc appts. So walking- not very good. Run into everything.

Sorry I'm rambling.

Hugs to you both!!

Default how long side affects of solumedral last???

Man!, I was on Solumedrol for 5 days. I have been off it for another 5 days and going through some side affects like cannot sleep, not feeling full, lost of taste, feeling a bit loopy or behavior changes. My wife hates me now. We try to avoid each other. Feeling like **** pretty much. LOL!
Does anyone know on a average how long these side affects last? When should I bounce back?
I am concerned with the constant sweating because that has not happened yet. But I have been urinating like a dog constantly that sees a tree. LOL!

Welcome Thrill, good to have you here.

Sounds like you should be on a taper of prednizone for awhile. The sudden stop of IV Solumedrol can be a shock to the system.

It takes a couple of weeks, sometimes, for the positive sides to show, though, so hang in there and let us know how it goes.

Hi Thrill! Welcome to NT.

I just finished 3 days of IVSM about a couple of weeks ago. I am finally starting to feel normal again. That 1st week off of them was pure heck as my body "reset" itself. Since you were on them for 5 days, I would think it may take you a bit longer. Hang in there and if the side effects get too troublesome, give you dr. a call.

hi ana
i can't speak about the roids as i've never been on them.
but, i just wanted to send you a .

i take 1 baclofen in the am and 2 in the pm. i think they help.
i would think it's better to take a med every day to build up therapeutic levels in the blood. might be more effective.

i was on neurontin also and it really didn't work. i changed to lyrica and it helped me a lot.

i hope you will feel better soon and the roids will have helped you.

When I did my 5 day course,
it took a good wk to 2 wks before I felt normal.
I just had joint pain.. skin hurt.. I couldn't cool off.

For some people they help but for me they did nothing.. I won't go on them again.. I finished them mid feb.. and I am not any better..

I see neuro in May.

Good luck and keep us posted as to how you're doing.
