Amen! I love Jordin! She's young and talented with a bright future. I think she's what American Idol's all about.

The 'prediction' site has Jordin way ahead. Tonight she outshined, (is that a word), everyone.

all i can say is...who thunk up making them sing bee gee songs?

hehehe doydie..i'm making up words too.

yep...it was jordin's night. my daughter called and called her voting numbers.

i agree ceci. i really was disapointed when they raised the age of the contestants. it let in too many whwo have already sung "professionally".

Raised, lowered - why does it matter? You vote for who you like. If Sanjaya was good enough to make the final 12, then I can't imagine that Melinda's presence meant that a well-qualified younger person was edged out.

Really, though, demographics are always a consideration. FWIW, if we had not been able to hear old lady Melinda (29) to sing, I think it would have been regrettable. The other point I want to make is that, just because someone has sung professionally, that doesn't mean that they have had more training. Paris Bennet - only 16 - was schooled for years by her aunt and other professional singers in her family, but she herself was not a pro. Melinda, although she has worked as a back-up singer, may have had no training at all, for all we know. You get hired based upon your ability to sing; they don't do on-the-job training for singers - especially back-up singers. If you aren't solid already you don't get past the audition. So having sung professionally is not necessarily an advantage.

I thought Melinda and Jordin clearly outshined the other two last night. Blake was atrocious - oy. His "unique" style has been exposed as the only trick in his bag. Without that silly beat-box stuff, he's nothing. Lakisha, IMO, sings like a million other people; pretty good, but certainly not great; there's no music in her voice. Assuming things go as they should, I will have a hard time voting against either Jordin or Melinda when the final vote rolls around.

I was really suprised. I went over to the .com vote prediction site and after all phone votes were 'counted', Blake is ahead of Jordin now. Lakisha is way down in the bottom. But this is only a prediction site. Last week they had Phil in second place and Lakisha in last. So they can't predict very well. The nasty little site that Howard Stern endorses is promoting everyone to vote for Lakisha. Sanjaya was their poster boy, Phil took over and now it's Lakisha. It is their goal to get everyone to vote for the least able to win, to show the public what a sham the show is. Last year Talylor Hicks was their man and he won.

The people voting for their A.I., as much and as often as posible, is kind of a sham operation. I can see how it could take on a life of it's own and get the wrong Idols eliminated from the final three.

There is a final three, isn't there? Or do I have AI mixed up with another show?

Yes Sally, there is now a final three on AI. Blake, Melinda and Jordin. Lakisha left tonight. Pondering about how she hasn't done as well the last couple of weeks, I was wondering if she has been homesick for her little girl. She is a single Mom. I'm sure she will have a successfull career.

There will also have a final three on Survivor. They started that last year I think. But we still have six. So somehow between tomorrow night and the second hour Sunday, they will have to get rid of three constestants. My final three for that is Earl, Yau and Dreams. I put Dreams in there because I don't think anyone will vote for him, when they find out how much he has double crossed them all. Then Earl and Yau will have a clean debate and vote for the million. They started out as friends and will go all the way to the end.

I was surprised that Lakisha went home before Blake. I really think he should have been next. Funny, I closed my eyes when Lakisha was singing and could have sworn it was Fantasia... they really sound alike. My money's on Jordin now too... such a beautiful voice. Melinda almost sounds too "professional" or something. Jordin sounds pure.

No surprise last night that Billy Ray went bye-bye, right? Nice guy but he just could not dance. Surprise he lasted longer than Heather Mills though, it is MUCH harder to be a female amateur than a male, and I thought she did quite well... considering.

Curious, as to Bon Jovi... I just don't think he could do anything to dim his light... he's just too nice a guy, too GOOD a guy personally... well, he's just tops in my books. I can forgive him a performance that wasn't his best.

You know, to be honest I didn't even know he was producing any more records until I watch some charity work he's involved in and then he sang the "have a nice day" song which I LOVE. I just love that he's just a regular guy, long-time marriage, basic family guy and not a "celebrity's celebrity". Good guy.

Nice to see Pink up there tonite singing too.

Man, there are a LOT of people with sore dialing fingers after the #'s of votes they're counting these days. I know I've tried to do it myself in past seasons and only managed to do just over a thousand. So there are some people developing carpal tunnel in their fingers I'm thinking.

Yep Survivor finale coming up... I'm still pulling for Yau Man. And surely we have some other Big Brother fans here too?

I've been watching AI this year and must admit, I've liked Blake from the start. He sets himself apart from what often appears to be a cookie-cutter approach to "molding an idol" and I can see him transcending the whole process. (Cases in point: most organically grown 'idols' in the music world [Sting, Gwen Stefani to name only two) wouldn't have made it past round 2 on AI ). I like Jordin too of course - she just gets better and better each week! I'd be happy to see either of them win, even though their careers should take off regardless.

Melinda's arleady in a league of her own. She's got a great voice and a really cool way of styling her songs. But in that she's no ingenue, she seems somewhat miscast on AI ...even though she knocks it out of the park each week, it's almost like the judges don't know what to do with her anymore.

Interesting stuff!
