I work out at least twice a week at the gym, and try to do something at home...I count mowing the lawn as exercise, because I push it fast and get a good sweat up.
I use an elliptical trainer or a stationary bike. I also lift on weight machines-they give me a more balanced effort that free weights.
the NMSS has a DVD of yoga and tai chi for MS patients...go on their site. It's gentle and helps stretch those tight muscles.

My neuro also told me to swim...it's the best for MS patients...

The Jimmie Heuga Center offers a program that evaluates every individual and provides among other things a workout program that is suited to the individuals capabilities. I attended about 12 years ago soon after my dx and it was a very positive experience. I highly recommend it.

I have tried to work out many times - I used to be a six times a week gym junkie in a former life. And my darling husband is still super fit.

Those days are long gone - when I do work out, as soon as my body temp goes up, my coordination goes down. I look like a drunk - assuming I can get off the floor, Added to that, I have lost soooo much muscle tone through steroids and lack of use it is not funny.

Still, trying is better than nothing. I just wish they would come up with some way of losing 20 lb without all of the hard work.
