went to orthopedic surgeon today. He is the kind of doctor that comes in only to stand ready to leave. I made a conscious effort to relax, not allow him to rush me. He has got to EARN his money from me!

DH was there to deal with him too. Although originally nothing could be done about the hated plastic cast, I was able to get a smaller boot of nylon for night time. Victory in a small way.

Foot bones are still in place, swelling down. It will be another 4 weeks before I can put weight on it.

Cyn, how is your foot/toes feeling lately? I am glad you have a new smaller bootie/cast when you go to sleep. 3 weeks and counting down until they take your cast off?-or check it again?--or just put your weight on it?

I hope it feels better or at least the drugs are working. I'm glad DH is home for you and you have the Electric W/C to use. Always something.

Emily, Welcome to NT. I just noticed your post. Did you introducer yourself somewhere? I'll have to look around. Nice to meet you. We are a very caring group.

update: the plastic cast is actually very heavy and bulky. The first week with it left my "good" leg with lots of ugly bruises from night time spasms. However, that has abated.

The good thing is that it can be removed for showering and after firmly working on the orthopedic surgeon, he gave me a lighter shoe cast to wear when I sleep that allows me to stretch on a sock slipper to keep it from hurting the other leg.

The pain is better. I have been able to put off taking an oxycodine later and later in the evening. I can always tell if things are getting better based on the amount of pain killers I need. Ortho was reluctant to give me any. I understand because it is an addicting substance. I expected him to write a prescription for 10 or so then he ended up giving me 60! I don't mind because it just gives me a stash for the next (I HOPE NOT) unexpected painful event.

DH has been gone all week. I have been mega careful. A neighbor took me out to vote then we went to lunch my treat. It was nice to go out of the house!

@Emily. How nice that of all the things you can post on, you had well wishes for me. Welcome to NT.
