I am sorry you continue to struggle peg. and NO ONE ever suggested that you leave. I hope you didnt infer that from anything we had to say.

Perhaps if your mother is so insistant on THIS nancy staying, SHE could be the one to sit her down and talk to her? Perhaps SHE could become Nancy's boss? It sounds like mom would like to take control anyway, and that would give you one less thing to be upset about.

Please go to the apartment or Condo managment office and explain to them that you are handicapped! You simply cannot walk a mile to get to the other side, and are asking for the construction crew to be accomodating of your situation. If you are out there spouting obscenities and venom at them, its going to make it harder for them to be understanding, but if you are polite and ask for help you will find most folks are accomodating.

it sounds like you may qualify for a space of your own. Are you on the wait list for a handicap apartment? if not, please put your name on the list. Having a space all your own may help.

I know you are tired, and I know you are fed up, and ready to lash out at the world, but lashing out produces results that are less than calming. If someone interupts you when they are not supposed to, perhaps you could say something like "excuse me, its my turn now. Perhaps when I am done, we can come back to you, but I am not finished with what I was saying." If they continue to interupt you in meetings perhaps you can have a chat with the moderator or facilitator of the meeting to explain that you are tired of being interupted, and it makes it hard to share. My daughter has an issue that if you cross talk on her, she will shut up, and crawl into a hole and not join back in. It took years for her to find a way to stand up and claim her space.

I do hope you will take Craigs advice on starting to remove the negative from your life, and draw in some positives. its exhausting to be surrounded by negative all the time, whether it comes from within or from areas that surround you. be it a noisy neighbor who blares a stereo all day or a dog that barks all day or being bombarded by negative thoughts of stress and worry. It sounds like you have reached your mad as a woman with a bee in her bonnet limit and are ready to take on the world. I hate to hear that things continue to be hard for you.

About your animal, you are right about what the ADA says, but its a grey and confusing area, and the local law enforcement has their own rule book.

What is a service dog according to ADA?

The ADA defines a service animal as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. If they meet this definition, animals are considered service animals under the ADA regardless of whether they have been licensed or certified by a state or local government.(Department of Justice, 1996).

The problem is the ADA says they are right, and the local law enforcement says they are right. Sorta like when my own governor said he refuses to pass a bill that would allow medical marijuanna in our state because its against federal law and he doesnt want his citizens breaking the law. All the other states said they passed the bill, because its up to the individual states to govern their citizens. So...whos right? The Feds say one thing, and local guys say another. The cops should have given you a summons to appear and explain your animal, NOT laid hands on you. I hope you contact a lawyer.

What can we do to help you? Do you want avice? or someone to just listen? or a space to vent safely? or hugs from a bad day? I tell my husband all the time "I dont want you to fix it! I just want to be able to vent." I do hope you are able to find some avenues to provide some relief for your situation.

I know it's not easy to have so much to deal with along with the regular day to day crap. I hope this doesn't sound too namby pamby, but I've tried it, and it really does help (even if it just changes my perspective). Hoping your days go more smoothly!

"Once you have decided you want the present moment to be your friend, it is up to you to make the first move: Become friendly toward it, welcome it no matter in what disguise it comes, & soon you will see the results. Life becomes friendly toward you; people become helpful, circumstances cooperative. One decision changes your entire reality."(Eckhart Tolle)
