My brother called yesterday - said my oldest sis was going to be in Dallas for weekend and would I like him to fly me down to visit too...or I could have my son drive me down and he would pick up all expenses.

Wow - I was really excited as this is a fairly energetic weekend and I havent seen my oldest sis in almost 18 years (yes that is 18 long years!!)

So I called son to see if he and my oldest granddaughter would like to take a scenic cruise for 2 days to dallas - my family has never met my granddaughter and she is the one about to star in the opera (Phantom of the opera).

WELL...long story short...his wife was having a hissy fit because I did not invite her to go and she would like to go and visit HER mother in Texas too!!!

Well, that torked me off.

She is one greedy, greedy selfish whining immature spoiled rotten, brute of a woman.

I dont know if I can hold my tongue anymore.

So, I told my son to tell her I could CARE LESS how ****** off she was - this was NOT about HER mother - this was about me seeing my mother before she dies and before I go in for my thymectomy (and poss die in surgery) and it was about MY brother paying for ME to go and visit MY sister and MY mother.

It was not about a family outting - whereby she is being excluded - its about including granddaughter and introducing her to my mother and siblings.

I am so mad.

So, I told my son not worry about anything I had decided not to do the trip as I have trip to KC this coming Monday and it would be too much-too fast-too draining. But, it was tempting!

I told my son to tell her that if she wants to see her mother then to stop buying up a half cow of meat and save her own frickin money to go see her mother. Stupidest greediest meanest selfish girl I have ever known.

I've sort of forgotten what it's like to have to deal with the "outlaws". And I'm not complainin'!

I actually think you should have invited your daughter in law to go to Dallas too. However, I would have told her that she would have to make her own arrangements to get to her mothers unless she also lives in the Dallas area. Sorry if you do not like my response but it sounds to me like you are freezing your daughter in law out.

That's a good compromise, Barb. Even if DIL is a difficult woman to get along with, Tresa......you could show her that you're not going to stoop to her level. And everyone could visit family and have a nice time. Plus, your son doesn't have to feel put in the middle.

Thank you, thank you. I agree - after I calmed down - that it could have "appeared" as if I was cutting her out of the deal.

But, it really wasn't about her...and if she had simply asked to go too, I would have joyfully given her a big yes. Or at least realized that she would love to go visit her family too. We will all plan to go at a later date.

I wasnt thinking all that clearly and it was all happening so fast ...so I just put the brakes on and decided these travel arrangements needed to happen at a slower pace and not so impulsively...as peoples feelings were getting hurt.

We've all made up and she understands perfectly the logic and illogic of my thinking and we are all at peace again.

So, thanks for all the input - it was all on target.

I, too, agree with Barb and Kitty I would hate to see you miss out on an opportunity to be with your family especially the sister you haven't seen for 18years.

Your brother sounds like a very good, generous person !!! I'd want to give him a big hug

The visit was only going to be for Thurs and come home on Friday (8 hr drive) and I was thinking she would need to stay at home with other girls (school) and also her work. It just was happening on the spur of the moment and not well thought out.
