Default My sniffer must be busted. am I alone?

recently I have become quite sensitive to odor. Am I alone? it was bad during the time I was on copaxone, but now that I have stopped I have become ultra sensitive.

Things that bug me from quite far away are women who literally showered in perfume. WHY?! Why must they do that?! I snapped at my mom the last time I was there. She stood in her room spritzing and spritzing. I told her the whole house stunk! and opened the windows. She told me she couldnt smell it anymore and that was part of the pleasure of perfume was to have something nice to smell all day. EEK!

Smokers. ICK! its rainy/wet and now going to be snowy and cold here, and that means folks are keeping their car windows UP while they smoke, and that means they are trapped in their cars with it. When they walk past you in a store, you simply want to vomit.

I swear! I keep smelling some mechanical smell. Like a hot machine. Even when nothing could be causing it, I still smell it! its freaking me out.

BO. Dear God, please let some of these folks know that the BO is enough to rip the nose hair right out of your nose.

And last but not least the famous dirty diaper on the child that has been dragged from place to place for hours, and mom either doesnt have a fresh one on her, or has gotten used to that smell. ICK!

Is my sniffer overly sensitive? is this an MS thing? I have spoken to non MS folks who say they smell it, but its not nearly as offensive to them, as it is to me. Do I need to stuff cotton in my nose before I leave my home? or wear swimmers nose plugs?

I sometimes smell something "hot" or "burning". It's so annoying because I feel like I have to check everything in the house to make sure I didn't leave an appliance on....or that the house isn't on fire! DS cannot smell it.

Perfume and mens cologne bother me more now than they used to. My Mom used to be ultra sensitive to perfumey smells. I wonder if it's just me getting older or maybe I inherited her sensitive sniffer.

You're not alone. I do notice scents more now....and there is always that "phantom" smell that nobody else can smell but me.

It works for me, but I've done all my wedded bliss, raising kids, grocery shopping and other assorted stuff. I am now retired, sitting back and enjoying being a lazy butt Mom & Grandmom.

The only time I go out is to the DOC, Dentist, Optho...etc... Usually once a year per each. Everyone else comes to me..

Which reminds me, my remodling hunks were here Friday for a few sundry repairs. I love thos guys.

What'd you break, Sally? And don't try to pretend it was unintentional. We know you too well.........

My new Toity that they put in had a leak and I called them instead of a plumber. They found the leak fixed it and didn't charge me nuttin. Of course I paid them. because they also fixed a couple of other minor things too.

The one who is married is expecting a second baby...he's going to send me some pics. I'll share when I get them.

Confused Is there enough xanax to go around?

I could use a Xanax or 2! I live with 24/7 neuropathic pain; often one part of my body (sometimes a couple) will hurt more than other parts. I have a contracture in my left hand from the MS so this is a frequent site of intense pain but it has never lasted more than one day. About 36 hours ago the pain intensified in my left arm & hand and just WILL NOT QUIT. I am ready to put my head thru a wall. Took some Vicodin I had left from when I had a tooth pulled NO RELIEF. Was looking for something in a drawer found some NORCO from when I injured my neck last year NO RELIEF. I have had about 6 hours sleep in the last 36 hours because of the pain. ANY SUGGESTIONS BESIDES AMPUTATING THE ARM?

As for the SNIFFER mine works over time as well. I have small spray bottles with Febreeze all over my room, in the closet, in the bathroom & I instruct everyone to smell often & generously. That smell DOES NOT bother me but certain smells are MORE INTENSE for me than others. My puppy dog (she is a Service Dog but still my baby) is OFTEN the "victim" of my sniffer. I am always saying "Esperanza where were you, you stink" then it is in the bathtub. She HATES BATHS but is so well trained that she does whatever I ask. I get in the tub/ shower & sit in my shower chair then instruct her to join me. I can either get her to sit on my lap or in front of me for easy sudsing & rinsing. I keep a towel within arms reach & when we are all done I dry her from my shower chair then instruct her to get out of the tub herself. It IS NOT unusual for her to have a bath once or twice a week. I know that dogs are not supposed to be bathed that often but I CAN'T STAND THE SMELL. I LOVE HER TO DEATH but I OFTEN feel she has an overabundance of......... well "doggy smell".
