Also I'd like to add....

With my long experience in this area that the original Zanaflex was such a "dog" item. We call these items that don't "move" or get used "dogs".

Anyway, Zanaflex never moved, the whole time it was on patent.
No doctors wanted to use it. Ever.

Then Acorda bought the patent from Lilly after it went generic, and made a capsule out of it, and started to aggressively detail it to doctors. Tizanidine has been around for ages, at least 20yrs now. And finally some doctors order it!

Its side effect profile and drug interactions with liver metabolism of Cipro and Levaquin make it problematic IMO.

I could take neither of these drugs, and my very smart neurologist put me on Magnesium to control night time spasm and jerking of lower back and legs. That was decades ago, and I still must take Magnesium. 800 mg a day is the lowest, sometimes need 900. I believe calcium and Vitamin D are natural things to go with this. But I take the calcium between meals and not at the same time as the magnesium.
