Default clenching

I have a new and rather disturbing symptom. I have been clenching....down there...you where I mean? My pelvic floor seems all messed up. I cant seem to co ordinate and I keep clenching, and sometimes it becomes like a tic, I just cant help it, I must clench. I stand up and try to get moving and now my thighs are sore and tired from shifting their focus on how I am standing.

Think its a flare? I would hate for this sx to hang around. its quite irritating, and upsetting.

anyone else ever do this?

I was going to say, YES, I clench......MY TEETH, but not there there.

Maybe your DH has been hunting too much...JK, I know you are serious....it just struck me silly.

I don't know what is causing that discomfort for you but I hope it goes away soon..

Do you mean when you stand up your legs kind of clench, like you're trying to stretch or something?

Dej, if this is what you mean then I do this every time I stand up. I have to stand there a few seconds until my legs "release me" so I can walk. With this cold and wet weather I'm still walking like a mummy.

My legs will do that. I stand up, my legs insist on tightening, or doing a full body stretch or something...the thighs tighten up for a second, and I usually have to stand there for a minute before I can start moving.

I've been doing that since before I knew about the MS.

yes, my legs go all tight and stiff when I stand up, but I am also clenching onto my pelvic floor. like not being able to stop doing kegal exercises. its intense when I stand up, less intense when I sit, and tolerable when I am laying down.

@Sally lol, i told the DH that and he giggled.

Maybe its the weather, its icy, snowy, rainy, sleety outside and you cant make it to your car, let alone church. Maybe its a flare, I have other sx going on.

it is disturbing to have your body DEMAND to clench or push down into my pelvic floor. its exhausting and embarrassing, and im going to be really upset if this is a new sx that wants to stay.

I did use a baclofen which helped about 25% then later on threw a tizanadine at it, which knocked it to about 80% gone. At least I got some sleep from the drugs. This morn it isnt as bad, but it hasnt gone away either! Maybe I will agree to a dose pack if this stays. its awful! why cant my finger itch? or my toe shake? no no no it has to be my crotch! OMG!

Can you tolerate the heating pad on low? Maybe if you lie down and put a warm heating pad across your lower tummy area that will help? I've never had this particular sx so I'm not much help. But if I ever have it I know who to come to for advice!

Is doing these involuntary Kegals helping or hurting urine control? Talk to your doctor, involuntary anything not good.

I have had this, off and on for several years. I have never had it stay with me like that. Just a fleeting symptom here and there. I get spasms there a lot though. Definitely an annoying symptom.

You should definitely talk to your doctor though. I hope you find some relief from it soon.

I get something similar. At various random times, I find that my butt cheeks are clenched together very hard.....and it is like I am unable to relax those muscles. It really takes me concentrating to relax the muscles.
