Default Trigeminal neuralgia??

Does this sound like TN?

Right side of my head, directly in front of my ear, I keep getting this pain that keeps hitting me every 10 seconds to a minute or two. Last night it felt like my ear hurt, but this morning, the pain is directly in front of my ear, but isnt in my ear.

Doesnt feel like any earache I've ever felt, and it feels a lot like the pain I had last year in the back of my head that I think might have been TN, but never had a doctor check it out. Described it to my neuro a few months later, and he said it may have been TN. (described it to my dentist around the same time, and she said then that she hasnt seen any dental issues it could have been)

It hurts when I touch it, but it also hurts if I dont touch it. Last year when I had a similar pain in the back of my head, even combing my hair would trigger the pain. All I have to do is think about it to set this one off. Also seems like the L'herrmites sensation that I get when bending my head forwards sets it off a little.

I go to my dentist for a cleaning in about a week, going to have her check then if this is something dental, but I'm calling my neuro this week. If it's neurological, I probably wont do anything about it, since lyrica and neurontin do nothing for me other than make me swell up.

Think I'll try to go take a nap. Didnt sleep till 6am or later, and my sibling just showed up with her family and woke me up. I'm falling asleep at my keyboard. Hopefully they stop stomping around on the wood floor that's directly above my bedroom ceiling soon.

sounds almost exactly how my trigeminal neurolgia hit me. After three days I went to the ER. Demerol never felt so wonderful! It has only happened once to me so...

get thee to a doctor. I feel your pain.

It's not super painful...yet.

I was really really tired when I posted too. My sibling came over at noon. woke me up. I'd only gone to bed at about 6am this morning. Dont think I fell asleep till about 7...and then the nieces were making so much noise I couldnt sleep.

Finally got to go take a nap around 4pm today and got woken up (again) at 630 when they needed to know what my hulu.com account was. (setting up my dad's internet ready blue ray player) Found my account info, got upstairs only to find out they now didnt need it. (set him up his own account)

I think I got enough sleep because the pain hasnt hit me again yet. I'm sure it'll start soon tho now that I'm thinking about it. As soon as you start to think about a neurological pain, it'll start up.

My attacks of Trigeminal Neuralgia were unmistakable. I was in the fetal position on the floor in complete shock from the pain, like an ice pick repeatedly jabbing down the side of my face.

I experienced this extreme on the left side only, but I've experienced the 'atypical' type TN bilaterally. The atypical, while painful, isn't near as painful as the 'classic' TN.

I'd imagine that people experience the pain differently, just as much as we all experience symptoms differently.

Definitely ask your neuro about it, but don't rule out a dental pain specialist. Mine was diagnosed by a dentist who treats TMJ and various pain conditions in dentistry.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

It started hurting again, but it's not intense pain yet. I'm hoping it's a dental issue. But I think it's too high up to be dental, unless it's something in the root of a tooth. But this is how the pain in the back of my head and neck started last year. Lightly painful and built up to intense pain.

I am starting to feel some pain in my jaw now, and the skin on that side of my cheek is starting to feel a little numb like it did last summer, just not as numb as it was. Hope it's not starting that up again.

I'm getting tired of this crap, cycling thru every few months. To me it's not Relapsing Remitting MS, it's Repeatedly Relapsing MS. Really starting to get annoying. I get one thing to go away or back off a little and another one moves in. (Dear MS, LEAVE ME THE $%^&! alone!! Signed, Me.)
