Default carbidopa-levo

My PCP prescribed this for me today...to hopefully settle these restless legs at night. He said it was safer than the newer RLS meds.

He said it is actually an older drug used for Parkinsons.

Any thoughts out there? ...or experience with this drug?

Thanks.

My FIL takes it for Parkinson's-helps reduce stiffness for him.
The other drugs, requip and the one that starts with an M, are also Parkinson's drugs. Requip is working less and less for me

Let us know if it helps!!

Thank you. I will let you know. He gave me a low dose and said it will most likely have to be increased quite a bit before it makes a difference. So so time will tell more.

to you.

Default Mirapex

I'm on a Parkinson's drug, Mirapex, and it works well for me. It took away the problem of RLS. With this drug I took 1 mg and with time now take 1.5 mg in the early evening.

May your drug work as well for you ... Take care.

My mom is on it for parkinsons. It increases the level of dopamine in the brain. Be careful though, as dopamine that is too high is what causes schizophrenia. Pay careful attention and ask those around you to pay careful attention to whether you seem "spaced out" or start imagining things that aren't there...it could be a sign your dose is too high. We had to cut my mom back from her original dosage because she started having all kinds of delusions and hallucinations. Your doctor is doing it right by starting low and increasing slowly.

What else would I be doing? Riding! Actually they blocked this site from our work internet and I haven't been on much at home...too busy with other things. I have lurked around here some, but haven't had the time or mental energy to get involved in the discussions. I have been doing spin classes 3-4 times a week for the last 6 months or so and it is definitely paying off. Went for a 37 mile MS150 training ride this morning and had the highest average speed I have ever had on a ride at any distance.
