Default Opana Anyone?

Wondering if anyone else is on this newest med of mine and if they can answer a question.

Today was my first dose and it sent me into zombie mode for a couple of hours, then I fell asleep watching a movie (not a big deal since I was home alone) but I woke up with a headache. The headache seems to be getting worse, and I know this is one of the common side effects, though I cannot for the life of me explain why a pain pill causes new pains.

Was wondering if anyone else is on this and if it took very long for your body to adjust to it.

Still trying to figure out if it is sae to take advil with it.

It is a narcotic pain reliever similar to Morphine, OTC pain meds might be a bad idea.

How bad is the headache? On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst) how bad would you rate the pain?

Call your pharmacist and ask if this is a common side effect or if it's something you might have to worry about. The pharmacist would also be able to tell you if it's safe to take something for the headache with that med.

all Narcs take time to adjust to. start tiny small and move up if you are still in pain. Ask for a lower dose if one is available to start with.

If you feel that your pain isnt above a 5 on the 1-10 scale then I would try other interventions. Massage, aleeve, a warm bath...if you feel none of those are helping and want to rely on the new pills then its going to take some getting used to.

narcartics saved my life. So many folks are afraid of dependance or addiction that they dont see the person who is in pain is no longer living their life. I wouldnt turn in my bottle for anything unless it was a pain free life.

Please be careful when driving, or doing things like cooking or stuff that you need to pay attention to until you are used to its effects.

Im glad someone finally took your pain seriously. I know you have been searching and struggling for a while.

I talked to the pharmacist who says yes I can take Tylenol. No Asprin, or Advil or Excedrin though. Which is fine. about an hour after the tylentol the headache began to ease up.

Been a trip. This is the pill they opted for when they realized Morphine was not working. My body would process it too quickly so it only worked for about an hour. After increasing the dosage 3 times they did a drug test and it showed that it is not staying in my system as long as it should.

Then there was the fiasco with trying to get the new meds. First script is no longer manufactured (we found out after the 4th pharmacy), the second script I had to wait 2 days for it to come in... but of course my insurance wouldn't cover it, 3rd script...also not covered.

SO after a week of being out of meds, they finally got it straight and wrote something that is covered. I still have to do the Opiate Psych release and all of that fun stuff.

PCP was livid when i told him i had been out of pain meds for 6 days. He and pain management doc got into a scremaing match on the phone where they reverted back to Arabic and I have no idea what was said after PCP called PM an incompetent babboon.

I am waiting on a referral to new pain doc but I wanted to wait until after my SSDI hearing next month.
