I get this way when it is cold and damp. I tell my kids that I have a '
toothache in the bottom of my feet and in my legs...mostly in my shin bones. Nothing really helps:( HOpefully spring will be here soon and we all will be feeling a bit better. |
Hot... Cold...Hot... Cold... right hand is freezing; rest of body is hot....

I thought of this thread yesterday as I was making hamburgers and the meat was cold. Normally, I can't feel heat with my hands and arms. I have burnt myself several times without realizing it or if I did, it was a good hour after I burnt myself that I actually felt it. But, the cold meat yesterday felt like it froze my bones from my hands up my arms to my elbows. I have experienced this several times recently. It's a weird feeling and hurts. I have to run my hands under warm water in order to get them feeling better. (I wonder if this past flare changed something with my hot/cold sensory system in my hands/arms.)
Just thought I would share that as I remembered it yesterday. |
Walmart in Brattleboro Vermont is closing to go to a new super store. This one is from the 1950s I bet. its OOOOLLLLDDDD. Anyway they had a super clearance sale going, and I got a nice electric blanket. My old blanket is about 25 y/o and I bet the cord would scare most of you to plug in. So, I got a nice new blankie. its normally $149 and I got it for $29 super clearance. I guess they dont want to drag heated blankets to the new store. Wahoo!

Definately yes on the cold meat freezing your hands and having to run them under warm water. Or getting ice cubes with your hands to put in your drink..yipes!

Bring on the ice
This has happened to me for the last few years (MS since 1988) off and on. Mostly at the back of the knees, but feet too sometimes.
Moved to the Southern Utah desert to escape the life of clouds and rain in my lifelong home of Oregon. Blue skies beat dismal gray, but the cold thing didn't stay in Oregon. I have never noticed any color changes, but I've also never thought to look. It just adds to the fun, as my heat thermostat has been screwed up for the last few years too (i.e. when it's 100 out, I still feel like 80 or something). Sorry I don't have any advice for you to make it better. For me it's just day by day (sometimes hour to hour, I guess). Hope you find a method to combat it! |
I am almost always cold, unless I get into a tub of hot water (best thing for me... I know many with MS can't tolerate a hot bath).
Cold to the bone indeed, that's exactly how I am all winter long, and a good portion of the spring/fall. Even in air conditioned buildings sometimes. I do find that keeping active, I'm less cold than if I just veg. So I walk a lot, and that seems to have helped my personal temperature levels. |
it has gotten better the last few days, but has not gone away. I find that my legs are quick to go bone cold. I put an electric blankie on the bed, and take a nice hot bath at night. Spring is here, but its still snowy! My circulatory system is so confused.

Our temps dipped down into the 30s today and instead of freezing my buttski off, I woke up in a sweat this morning?:mad: That's how messed up my internal MS thermostat is.
