Default Canadian MS patients wheelchair removed!

A canadian man is using medical MJ to control his MS sx, and has a license from the federal government which supplies him with the drugs. He is bed bound when not in his chair at the nursing home. The management of the home decided that he is breaking the law by smoking MJ and its a bunch of baloney. Its not a treatment for MS, its a way to get high. They TOOK his wheel chair and are forcing him to be IN bed 24 hours a day so he will learn his lesson. OMG!

I'm not sure the nursing home realizes the liability they've put themself under by doing this. I'd say that once a lawyer sees this and represents this man he'll get his MJ back and a whole lot more, too.

That video is from 2009. I wonder how it turned out.

*cue dramatic music while I do some Google Fu*

I googled, and found an update.

Someone contacted him and found him a temporary wheelchair and also helped him go outside so that he could self medicate with his MJ. (good for them!) The care center gave him back his chair after 7 days.

I havent been able to find any more updates about this place or about the guy who had his chair stolen by the care center. (remind me never to check into any care centers in Canada if my MS ever gets that bad)

Good Lord, that is atrocious(sp).

She ought to lose her license to operate a care facility.

Can you believe the home gave his sisters number as the person to complain to?? OMG! it was THEM who removed his chair, not the sister! Way to pass the buck. The update article said he would be given better care, but I love how they actually made him wait 7 days to get his chair back.

My biggest fear! Being helpless in the hands of ignorant idiots who think they're doing the right thing in a self-righteous way. I hope he didn't return to that same place. It might be infected with this ignorance. DH takes pretty good care of me, I'm as independent as I can be. Being at the mercy of others, the thought scares me. I hope it never happens.

and if this guy ever got broken down skin from being immobile like that then they'd have to pay even more. that can ultimately kill you.

i didn't realize the article was so old.

if that ever happens it's call the tv news station time.

In situations like this there is usually a lot more going on in the background that we don't know about. While I can't believe the stupidity of what they did to this guy, I would sure like to know the entire story which I'm afraid we'll never get to know.
