OKAY....WHO WAS IT THAT TOLD ME HOW WELL KLONOPIN HAD WORKED FOR THEM INCLUDING CURING ANXIETY AND EVEN HELPED KICK A TWO PACK A DAY SMOKING HABIT???

ANYWAY; DOC GAVE ME SOME AT 1MG EACH. IS THAT A LOT? SHOULD I CUT IT IN HALF? I HAVE AN OLDER PERSCRIPTION FOR ATIVAN AND I AM UNDERSTANDING I SHOULD NOT TAKE BOTH DRUGS IN THE SAME DAY.

RIGHT NOW I'M STARTING OFF CUTTING THE PILL IN HALF.

I was given Klonopin at .5mg 3xday. It made me feel a little 'off'. I only took it for a week or so and then stopped.

I had klonopin but it made me pretty sleepy, and the n next day I felt hung over. the MD said that would go away, and I would really like the stuff, but I went back to my xanax.

I occasionally take it at bedtime. But my dosage is only for .50 and I am suppose to cut that in half. My pcp will only give me 10 pills for a one month period. I guess she is afraid of addiction. The nurse practitioner that first prescribed it for me had the prescription at .25 mg up to 3 times per day. I don't take it for anxiety; I take it at bedtime when my spasticity will not allow me to relax and sleep. I also take ambien cr at the same time and I still do not sleep all that well most night.

I don't smoke, never have but I do use Klonopin

I have used it for 7 years and it is one of the very few medications I can tolerate with few side effects. My rx is 1mg 3x a day but my doctor knows I use it on an as needed basis. I have, at times, taken the prescribed dosage for a month or more. How I use it depends on why I am taking it at that time.

I use Klonopin for an anxiety disorder as well as panic attacks. For MS I have found Klonopin helpful for spasticity, tremors and sometimes pain. However, I did find at 6mg my legs became jello

You can cut your 1mg pill in half. Klonopin can make you sleepy but that can decrese with use. In my case, sometimes I get very tired with Klonopin and other times I actually have more energy...go figure.

Since Klonopin can make you tired I would suggest not driving after taking it until you see how it effects you.

I sometimes take mine (for the burning mouth) only to then experience more burning in my head, go figure!

I believe this medication lends itself to more instances of paradoxical reaction than some medications do.

I had not heard of paradoxical reactions to medications. I did some searching and am finding this very interesting.

I take 1 mg at night and can take another .5 mg twice during the day. It helps to reduce spasticity because the baclofen isn't always enough and also helps with the nystagmus. I don't have any real adverse side effects. I feel lucky to have found something that actually does help.

I give a fair amount of benzos for anxiety and drug/alcohol withdrawal and there is a place for them but I would urge everyone to really consider and discuss with your doctor the chances of of becoming dependent as well as the severe withdrawal that can result from discontinuing them abruptly.
