Like Dej - The computer is great! A few years ago, I bought a laptop. It was such a great investment as I can move around and use it. Sitting for long periods is hard. With a laptop, I can move around and change positions frequently and still be able to get my transcription done. It has made things so much easier. The phone is great as well. If I want to know if a store has something in stock or the price, I'll call first before I go. This has saved me so much time and money. Some places, like Target.com, will tell you if it is in stock at your local store. However, I always call 1st because sometimes what it says is not the case and/or the price is higher or lower in the store. |
I agree....the phone and the computer are irreplaceable. HOW on earth did we ever manage before the Internet? Really! I was telling DS about how it was when I was a teenager and we didn't have cell phones. He was absolutely floored......how I managed to survive without one was a miracle to him! I told him that how my parents managed to survive without one was a miracle to me. Three daughters and no way to reach them!

When I was a girl we had DIAL phones.
I am in a chair, use of only 1 hand: 1. reacher/grabbers in every room 2. Scissors to cut food. 3. Cabinet no-slide stuff (Rubbermaid- comes in rolls) or car dashboard mats that keep things from sliding for writing (holds the paper or check in place while I sign or write. $. Under upper cabinets a U-Screw, opens jars, bottles easily with use of one hand. |
I think my number one helper is my rollator. I have one for the house, and one in the van. Not only is it the perfect caddy for my big purse and anything else I’m lugging around, but it also allows me to move about with dignity when I am in public. With the rollator I can maintain a steady gate and it is easy to stand up straight and tall no matter how awful I am feeling. I just grab the handlebars, throw my shoulders back and walk tall. Oh yeah, and it keeps me from falling head over teakettle, and gives me a place to sit down on a moment’s notice.

Kicker - A good pair of scissors is great. I have tremors and sometimes they are bad. With the scissors I can "chop" my foods as needed. My brother taught me that trick and it works great.

Oxo Good Grips line of kitchen and tools, especially the scissors and peeler. Also, I throw out shower curatin liners when scuzzy instead of cleaning them.
I put the cat foood up on the dryer (they just jump up there to eat) - no more bending and falling over to the floor trying to feed and water them. |
