I saw it on Dr. Oz just this past week. I'm researching it now and looking at different websites and recommendations. It seems very beneficial.

Yep. It was on the repeat with Dr. Mercola.

Astaxanthin is also in Krill oil.

I thought Dr. Mercola did not look well on that show. His eyes were bugging out, and his color was poor. He is selling expensive Krill oil on his website. And one big thing he said bothers me.... he said in the beginning of his work on the web he was spending 500,000 DOLLARS for his web costs (and going into debt)... This is way unbelieveable! WAY!

I am not convinced yet totally, of his claims. But some of it daily could help inflammation, like grapeseed extract or curcumin.

There are many potent antioxidants out there. Some studies on curcumin are really impressive. But you have to use an enhanced absorption form of it and that costs more than astaxanthin.

I have a historic issue with him too. Many years ago I was posting on Omega-3s, the evils of transfats, and other supplements on a previously popular venue with heavy traffic. I recommended Carlson brand long before anyone knew of them (we used Carlson DHA for my son). Then I found Dr. Mercola echoing that a bit later. This sort of creeped me out... as if he were reading my posts back then. So I have become a bit careful when I read him now.

In my research I keep running into Dr. Mercola. I dont like him. cant explain why, but feel like he is selling me something instead of educating me. I do like what I am seeing on this product, but I am not one to jump in head first. I do my home work first. There are many makers of this product and some hawiian folks are into the market now. Askthepharmacist.com seems to have very favorable reviews. Spoke to my pharmacist friend, and he really liked the idea, and is going to set about researching it too.

Why do some folks have to take a good thing and make it slimey? I mean, if its good for me, educate me, dont turn it into a chance to fleece me.

I used to subscribe to the email newsletter Dr. Mercola sends out. Every day there is a new subject and a new supplement to talk about. While I'm all for educating people and putting the facts out there I had to unsubscribe from the email. It was beginning to get alarming!

First, the water I drink is tainted and I need to buy this super expensive filtration kit (that of course he sells). Then, I needed to stop using flouride toothpaste. Then I needed to take Chlorella because....well, I can't remember but I'm sure it was something crucial to my overall well being. Probably memory related......

I'm sure he has some good advice and information but I don't need to hear about it every day. I certainly can't afford all the supplements he's endorsing. He even said on Dr. Oz last week that he actually takes very few supplements. He named about four and said that he eats a very balanced diet. He must exercise often because he is very thin.

I'm not bashing him but I'm sure he makes a pretty penny off the products he sells. His website is quite full of very expensive stuff.

I too think he is doing well financially.

I got very irritated with him with those pop-ups he has when you go to his site.

But I do think his YouTubes with Dr. Blaylock on the H1N1 vaccine and the adjuvant problems inherent with all vaccines were just excellent.

But I rarely quote Dr. Mercola anymore. At one time years ago he was a new lone voice... but no longer IMO.

We have a discussion on our Vitamin forum about him...which is very interesting. That new poster claimed his website censored her.

Since that thread I have switched to the Krill oil too. I did it as an experiment. At two a day, there were no changes in my blood work from regular fish oil, however. But they are smaller, easier to take and have the astaxanthin in them. I still worry about "green" aspect of overfishing them tho. Every few months, Costco has a big sale of $5 off their 90 ct MegaRed.
Their price with that sale is about $12.99, and that is a Mega Deal. Our Kroger's has 60 ct MegaRed for $30+!

So if any of you decide to get Krill Oil... do some homework and save some $$.

its so scary. the deeper you dig, the more info you get that you didnt know you wanted. In order to see the link from the 2nd poster you MUST sign up with your email info. I have a junk account that I use for just such places, and I will never know if I get a letter from him, as its a throw away account full of spam, ads, and BS.

We have a local naturopathic store here, but incredibly expensive. I find that I can do much better on the internet. Mercola wont be getting my business. I dont mind hearing what he has to say, but he strikes me as a pitch man, and that makes me want to verify his claims, his sources, and his research. Then because his place is so expensive I most certainly would buy elsewhere.

Is there a safe place on the internet that you guys use? Vitamin.com or something?

I always check Puritan's Pride and Vitamin.com but before I buy I check on ebay. There are some great deals on that site and especially in the vitamins/supplements category.

I use vitacost.com and amazon.com sometimes beats them all, like they did on the AstaXanthin.

bought the Nutrex, BioAstin, Natural Astaxanthin, 4 mg, 120 Gel Cap with the lutein in it for the eyes, so will see how it does

here is a link from iherb with some reviews, if you're interested
