I wouldn't mind at all sitting on a jury. In fact it would be very interesting and be a break in my usual day. When I got my letter, I either called the number involved, wrote it on the paper or had my MD write a note. Anyway I got a letter back saying that I would permanently be taken off the potential jury list. My husband is so controversila I know he would never be picked.

The irony is that I think of myself as "sick" more so than I think of myself as "disabled".

Although I haven't been invited to be on a jury, I've had a couple of offers/invitations to be involved in things where people have assured me that the locations were accessible, that I'd have a place to sit when needed, etc. I appreciated their sensitivity, but realized they had no clue that I have equally serious issues that have nothing to do with using a cane or sitting down.

I have been called several times. I go and waste a day. I tell the truth, I watch a lot of Law & Order. Now that I have Criminal Investigations, I am addicted to Crime 360 ad the First 48. After I tell them that, I am excused. Court is at 26th & California, the county jail campus. It's that big and it is very depressing. My first time there it was sunny outside but I crossed the street to the jail campus it was cloudy.

My son's a cop......I think that disqualifies me.

I was called for jury duty before I got the offical dx of MS...I told my neuro to give me an excuse but he said that having MS wouldn't disqualify me so he wouldnt (my FORMER neuro, that is).
So I showed up and told the receptionist I don't think I can serve on a jury due to my sxs...she said there is no exclusion for neuro sxs.

Fine...so I sat for several hours, then got called into a court room where they began asking potential jurors questions. I fell asleep of course...a bailiff came over and woke me up and asked if I was all right. I told him that I suffered from severe fatigue from a neurological condition and was having difficulty staying awake. He went and told someone and took me back to the waiting area...where I was told to go home...

If they would have LISTENED to me...;)

can they put MS on trial and can I be on the jury (please)?

WHAT! Jury Duty doesn't have nap-time!

Kitty 06-02-2011 08:48 AM

Debbie's got the right idea. Just sleep in your seat! If that doesn't catch their attention then I give up!
