Frown Im getting worse and im scared

Hello everyone

About 2 weeks ago I checked myself into the hospital. My mouth started getting numb and it slowly took over my entire body (that novacaine feeling)
Plus I also have widespread pain and a burning headache. I was there for 2 days with steroids and fluids.

They told me that along with my MS, and degenterative disc disease . I have fibromalygia. (Goody.....a trifecta of pain!!!!)

I was sent home with pred, muscle relaxers and to try Lyrica. Im also on Gabapentin, pristiq, nexium,

Once home I tried the lyrica and had a bad reaction to it.

My doctor cant get me in earlier than 3 weeks from now.

Im not sleeping at all !!!! At night my mouth fills with saliva and i start choking or am scared that i will.

Im still numb? Very scared. having trouble thinking.

Im seperated from my hubby. and have 3 swmall kids. Very lonely.
What do I do? Also need to get affairs in order.

Please help me.

MM

Aww MM, I am so sorry for your troubling and painful situation. Do you belong to a church or do you have friends or other family members there, who could help you?

Call the NMSS to see if there is any local help for you. In the meantime, keep coming here to vent and for our support.

I hope you and DH are reunited soon..

MotorsMommy

New symptoms can be so scary. Not knowing how long they'll last. Not knowing how to relieve them.

I've had some episodes of numbness and it's troubling. Fortunately, they've all resolved themselves with time. But I know time seems to stand still when it's you that's experiencing it.

Can you check with your doctor and see if he can fit you in as an emergency visit? Or at least put you on the cancellation list in case an earlier appointment opens up? If it gets worse or you get too scared call 911 or go to the ER.

Do you have any family nearby that can help out while you're recovering? I'm not sure how old your kids are but I know that it's not easy even when you're in the best of health.

Stress can send our MS symptoms into overdrive. I know it's hard to not get stressed out at certain circumstances in life but if you can find a way to relax or at least lessen the stress that will help.

You're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope things ease up for you soon and you can take a deep breath. Your friends here will help you!

No we dont belong to a church and are all alone here. My family is in NJ.

My boys are 7, 6, 5 years old. My oldest is autistic.

My hubby moved out in Nov but lives next door and he is living his own life!!!

There is no love or compassion there.

I am waiting for my doc to call back. yes I am on the cancellation list.

I am worried about lots of things plus $$$.

Thanks

I'm so sorry your hubby is being less than supportive. Does he have an interaction with the kids? Are you okay with him spending time with them? Maybe he could relieve you for a while and take them. I'm sure having to take care of the house, the kids and then worry about money is exhausting. All this will magnify any symptoms you're having.

I wish your family could be of some sort of help to you during all this. Do they know everything you've told us about your condition? Maybe someone will come along with some better ideas than I'm able to offer. Wish I could do something to help you.

MM

I'm so very sorry to hear the troubles you are having.
And I know that fear of choking, and you're right, it is VERY scary.

I'm no doc, and I am still really new to MS, but it sounds like you didn't get enough IVSM. I did a 3 day once, and still continued with symptoms, turns out I needed a 5 day to put my MS in temporary check.

Again, I'm no doc and don't have too much room to talk as the right side of my body is painfully numb (how does that happen exactly? how could we be so numb with no feeling, yet a massive amount of pain can exist in that area and you sure can feel that!) and I am in a flare, but am refusing steroids at this point.

Be careful with those meds! I've heard Lyrics is good with treating neuropathy, but if you're on gabapentin, I don't see the point of taking two drugs for the same symptom

And I am also very sorry to hear about the Fibromyalgia diagnosis.

Hang in there MM

Right, Gabapentin is similar to Lyrica. Taking both? Why? It can add to that fuzzy thinking, it can even add to paralysis in some people. I was given Lyrica for pain after Shingles outbreak. It was very effective for pain, but it started the "hug" big time, with one pill only. So that was it, for Lyrica and me. You should not be on that many drugs if you are "alone". I know the kids are there part of the time (after school) but they are not there all the time.

I'm so sorry your trouble is overwhelming. It IS awful.

I am alone, too, but I have become VERY wary of things. I always start low on drugs to see how I'll manage, and by manage I mean things like being able to do simple everyday
tasks. Being on Prednisone can alter your "view of the world" considerably; my reaction was extreme, but I was literally pounding the walls and the car window as my husband drove.
Prednisone
