Thanks again Dej! I am feeling a lot better today... I had movement yesterday (day 5, wow!), then more today! I did go down to taking 1 pill at night instead of 2, and taking the probiotics.

I'll take the probiotics for the duration of what I have (2 daily for 30 days) and see how that treats me. I am going to see if I can get away with 1 Cesamet at bedtime, 1 in the morning, 1 around 5 pm. If I get break through pain, I'll take 2 that night to calm things down again, then switch back to 1 and see how that works.

My pain doc and GP both suggested that I play around with dosing... they're not used to prescribing it off label for MS pains, and with pain as we know, it's hard for the doc to understand what we're feeling, so we're the best judge often at the end of the day.

Dej you mention to not focus on fiber as much, which is interesting, because I always believed fiber to be for moving things along. Is it an agent more so to make things solid? I always thought fiber was there to unbind when we get tied up... hrm  to say I am confuddled would be the understatement of the year! :p

fiber providesss bulk and sweeps out the gut, but it also absorbs alot of the water that is there, so things can dry out more quickly.

there are a couple of prescription medications to try, one is amitiza, the other relistor, both are for chronic severe constipation as you mention, have you tried either of those?

do you take the stool softener with laxative, im assuming or senokot s, if so how many?

I looked up both medications, it seems Relistor is to counteract opioid dehydration and only works in a situation where an opioid has caused the constipation. As Cesamet's not an opioid, I believe Amitiza would be one to ask my GP about. Thanks for the great info! :)

anytime DM. Pharmacists know a lot about chemical reactions of taking meds and she has been a great source for me. So if you have any questions, I am glad to send her a quick email. She is a good friend.:)

If you have more questions, not necessarily about constipation...just about another medicine and the possible side effects, do not hesitate to let me know.

That goes for anyone reading this...
