I'm sorry you had that fall and I'm sorry that you're sore today. I hope you feel better soon.

I've not done the fall from the toilet yet, but I have fallen in many other places. DH has got me up each time, bar two. I broke major bones in those 2 falls and I needed a trip in the ambulance, so I had to wait for the paramedics to get me up.

I hope you stay upright now, and you too Sal, and Cyndy and everyone else who's taken a tumble; and never lose your sense of humor ladies. It's so good to hear the smiles in your words.

((((((Hugs))))))))

Sounds like you truly were a damsel in distress.

I hope you are OK, and sorry that this has happened to you.

A friend told me a story of her friend (we're all MSers). Friend is 300 pounds. She fell. Took husband and 2 EMTs to get her up again. 8-O. DH (My caregiver) watches my weight with me.

Well, nuts, kicker!

I'm so sorry you fell, esp. when DH wasn't nearby to help. :(

I know your pride is bruised, but how's the rest of your bod? :o

I guess I was lucky.
I had stood up, pulled up my stuff, got ready to sit in chair but foot plate crowded me, didn't fall as much as sank down to sitting on floor. No pain at all except emotional anguish as I realized I could not get myself up. Grabbed my blanket and cell phone. Within @ hour and half was sitting in chair again. Had already eaten lunch, then peed, then I was sitting on floor! Luckily I don't embarrass easily. Underwear and swim bottoms really look the same to me and I do go in pool all summer. EMTs didn't get embarrassed either.

With all of the truly tragic things that CAN happen, falling in the bathroom is one of my nightmares. I especially freak out thinking I might fall in the shower!

We're in a small town, and the first responders (volunteer fire department) are guys I've known forever. Me in nothing but wet skin is NOT the image I want imbedded in their minds!!!

I've given my husband two instructions, assuming he can't resolve the problem himself:

1. If I fall, warn them they'll need a crane and a bucket loader.

2. If I fall in the shower, don't unlock the door for the first responders (Tommy, Duane, Matt, Don, etc.) Wait for strangers.

I guess that's the drawbacks for living in a small town. Everybody knows your business.

That's my biggest fear, too......falling in the shower and having to let one of my sons help me. Talk about a traumatizing experience......and I'm not talking about for ME. :o 911 might have to be called for THEM.

I'm so sorry you had a fall, kicker.

Hope you've had no long-term damage!

I tried to post this a few hours ago but something must have gone wrong. Maybe I didn't click the right button.

Don't worry about the underwear. Those EMTs have seen far worse, I'm sure.

I used to have a job giving EKGs to people--outpatients and mostly inpatients. I believe some people hadn't had a bath in years.
