Default Getting tested, but can't remember the name

Ugh!

The doc said it will tell if I'm experiencing MS numbness, or if I need carpal tunnel surgery.

He said its similar to accupuncture with a jolt of electricity.

They stick some needles up your arm and give you a buzz.

What is this test called and what can you tell me about it?

Thanks!

I had both EMG's and NCV's (nerve conduction velocity) tests. Uncomfrotable, but not unbearable.

I agree with the others, uncomfortable but not unbearable. And they are like acupuncture needles.

No, my hand and arm numbness is completely MS related. He just wanted to rule out carpal tunnel.

It's sort of like accupuncture. The needle is just put under the skin but it's the electrical current that "zaps" you. Not really painful but not comfortable either. Let's just say I was ready for it to be over with by the time he was through.

If I play Solitaire on the computer and felt the repetitive dragging of cards using mouse game after game effected my hand and arm and I experience pain later when I went to bed. I avoid the computer for a couple hours before bedtime and sleep well, so I repeat this. Carpel Tunnel has entered my mind about this. Interested in others' experiences. I typed out a lengthy reply on e-mail to DD using my one hand and I had pain that night also.
