Default anyone break their legs?

hi folks

I haven't posted in awhile, so its nice to be back and check in on you all.

I'm wondering if any of you have had this type of experience. I stepped off a
curb and broke my left leg and really screwed up the right one. So I'm in a cast on my left leg from the knee down. I HATE IT! I broke the fibula, but its more like the bone split long way as opposed to breaking in two. Anyway I have a cramp in my leg and this thing seems to be getting much tighter.

So it seems my MS may be moving right along. Both of my legs just collapsed under me. Initially seemed they were both broken. But frankly, they hurt equally so broken or bent..either way I'm not happy!

Any experience, tips, suggestions? I have an appt to have the cast taken off tomorrow (I've only had it on a week, had accident two weeks ago).

thanks!

I'm so sorry to read about your fractures. I've not broken a leg, but I have broken my ulna, my radius, my coccyx, my sacrum (twice) and 4 ribs. (I blame all of them on MS)

It's unusual for an adult to fracture large bones so if you haven't already done so, do get your bone density checked. Also, it wouldn't hurt to take Calcium and Vitamin D. The Vit D is necessary to help the calcium bind to your bones.

With your cast coming off tomorrow, you might be referred for physio to strengthen your calf muscles that have slackened off while being rested, other than that take it easy. You'll probably find you can't do everything you want to do straight off, so it would be best to ease back into things slowly.

I hope you no longer have troublesome pain and I hope your recovery is trouble free.

I am very sorry, jnewk

I stepped off a curb when I was 18 and my leg just went, no known reason. Fortunately, I didn't break anything and was just embarrassed. I now know the cause was MS.

I have not broken my leg but several years ago I did shatter my left ankle due to a fall off the bottom step to my garage. On the left side of the ankle I have a plate with 3 or 4 screws and on the right side of the ankle I have 3 pins, connecting all of it is wire. I was non-weight bearing for 7 weeks and it took Physical Therapy and alot of work on my own to get my mobility and endurance back.

Best wishes

A Bone Scan is probably needed. It sounds like your Bones are very Brittle. Try to increase your Calcium and Vit D to help them.
