Default ? about Social security statement

My husband and I got our statements today saying how much our increase will be next year. It showed me how much Medicare premium would be. I have Medicare Advantage. I know it is my Medicare but will it be shown somewhere else in my check than on this statement. I know I am not stating what I am thinking but hoping some one will understand. You know when you get your tax statement and it tells you how much SS you got and how much of it was Medicare, so is my Medicare Advantage part of it not going to show up for me ubntil the end of the year? Now I'm getting myself confused. I know I will be paying it each month but will I just know at the end of the year how much I did pay? The other ? is the statement I got today, the amount of Medicare is it my Medicare Advantage. The reason I ask is my DH thinks my raise is to much. I am just wondering if it is showing my Advantage plan in it.

Very confusing, just reading it gives me a headache. The amount of SS you get is one thing, that is going up by the 3.6% COLA. Medicare B is going up to $99.90. Whatever you pay for your Advantage is completely separate. My D plan has no monthly premium, but it is High Deductible, $1250 next year.

I think what you are confusing is Medicare, and your Advantage plan. You pay for Medicare, parts A & B. And D. My DH has an Advantage plan from Humana. He does NOT pay for that, Humana bills the govt for each person.

Does that help any?

I haven't received anything about our COLAs yet, so can't comment there

The statement says

Your monthly amount before deduction $xxxxxx
Amount for Medicare is $xxxxx
Amount for medicare prescription drug plan $0

What is confusing to me is that I know that my Medicare Advantage plan is in place of my Medicare and it includes Medicare D. So is what they give as the amount for Medicare the premium for A, B and my Advantage plan

Doydie, I don't rattle my brain with trying to figure out how or why the Government does anything. I'll take it if they give it and won't if they don't. They must know what they're doing, right?

Your Advantage plan is in addition to Medicare A & B. Medicare is deducted automaticaly each month, around $100. You do pay for that, everybody does. Part D is a pain in the patooti. Are you sure you have an Advantage plan, and not asupplement? They are different in lots of ways, like cost and coverage.

I did see something in the AARP mag about the COLAs, and how somethings would change. I didn't understand it. You might want to give SS a call, and your Advantage plan, they can explain this better than me. Or call a SHINE #.

I thought the new health initiative was phasing out Medicare Advantage?

You should call your local SS office for clarification...
