Default MS: Betaseron or Natural Meds

Hi, Im new on this site and was wondering if anyone is taking the Betaseron therapy for MS. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago, have been on Betaseron but resulted in unfavorable side effects. Please let me if anyone has had any success with trying natural medicine and supplements instead of the drug therapy. Considering natural medicine and supplements.

Hello alisa and welcome to NeuroTalk

Using the Disease Modifying Drugs for MS is a personal choice, some use them and some do not. Each person will have their own reasons for not using a MS treatment.

I have never used any of the MS treatments in 26 years and I have no plans to do so.

Going 'natural' is not a treatment for this disease, it's a lifestyle choice. I'm not sure what you are looking for when asking "if anyone has had any success with supplements and natural medicine." Can you feel good? Yes, maybe. Will going natural slow progression? Unproven.

There are no gaurantees with or without medication, this disease is a crapshoot either way. Do what you feel is best for you but understand the possible risks in not treating MS with FDA approved treatments.

Hi Alisa and welcome to NT.

I've used both Copaxone and Betaseron. I'm now taking LDN. I had bad side effects to both of the injectibles.

For some the conventional DMD's work well. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. LDN has worked well for me. There are several folks here on LDN.

And also the possible risks in taking these same FDA approved drugs.

Yes, there is that

Some can feel worse on the medications and/or the side effects more serious but some do fine on them.

I have been off C since last August and feel so much better off it. I used C for three years. I also quit my job in September....way to much stress which did me in. Pain in my left leg which was driving me nuts, tingling in left leg, heart palps every second of the day and my memory was toast..couldn't remember anything. Most of my symptons are gone and I'm feeling better than I have since I was dx three years ago. I do not care to put any of that crap in my body again, I feel that I was worse off with it. Everyone is different though, it's all personal choice...a very expensive choice! Good Luck!
