Politics First lady and MS

I was surprised that Michelle Obama's father has MS. I would think she would be vocal about treatments and a spokesperson for the disease since there is no cure. I guess this is not a political hot topic like childhood obesity.

She said that he always worked so it must not have been a severe case. At least she mentioned it on Letterman, that will get some attention.

Default Anne Romney has MS

Mitt's wife has it too. I think the first lady's dad couldn't walk due to MS. Anne doesn't use crabs but alternative meds and exercise. She attributes her well being to diet and exercise. She raves about horseback riding. I can't afford a horse. The Republicans also believe the only reason Obama admitted her dad had MS was because Anne admitted she was battling MS.

ok I am going to have to step in here right at the start and remind everyone that we are very strict about limiting political discussion in posts here, as clearly stated in the guidelines

and yes, Mrs Obama already spoke openly of her father's MS years ago, as well as at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, and since..... so please let's not see a topic that is supposed to be related to health become a partisan discussion.

thanks

I never knew that about Mrs O's daddy.

I did know about Mitt's wife, and I am surprised at how great she looks. She runs day and night on the campaign trail and not a hair out of place. I thought she was on C, but she may have stopped it.

Havent heard much from montel lately either. He is busy selling things, using the MS label as a way to get a higher price.

Im glad a few high level folks are at least not hiding it.

Wow I didn't know either had MS. Let's hope they get vocal about it.

Sounds like 2 people that would love to be told about the cost of say C, going from $1600 in 2006 to $4000 in 2011.

Love to ask if Mit's wife took birth control & how MS was on/off it, since i'm always in search of hormone answers for MS, such as carrying a child effect.

Ah Kitty...when I saw Mrs. Romney on TV & stated how good she looks, DH told me "Hey, you don't like it when people tell you how good you look when you tell them you have MS...you don't have any idea what she's dealing with."
Touché DH...never judge an MS patient by how "good" they look...

Remember how horrible Richard Pryor looked in the end. SCARY! Did you see Montel break down and cry on Oprah? There are several pretty high up politicians who either have MS themselves, or have close family members.

I cant imagine the stress of the campaign trail on an MS body, even a mild form of it would go haywire, no?

But they look so good!

I thought I read that Mrs. Romney stated that most of her Sxs are cognitive...it IS good to see people with MS in the public eye though...we've been invisible for too long IMO...
