when i turned 60 i got it. no ill effects.
i also thought long and hard about it. both my pcp and neuro were for it and i finally decided to get it.

i thought you had to wait til 60 but if you can get it now, especially with your family hx, i'd do it.

DH got shingles when he was 43...got on ABs in time, but we didn't know it was shingles until I described the rash to coworkers. In fact I'd taken him to the ER the night before I talked to coworkers, and they didn't even know the rash/severe headache was shingles

I got chicken pox when I was 29, and I never ever want to have an experience like that again-talk about pain!! I am going to talk to my neuro about this when I see him...

Debbie, I got them when I was 25....and gave them to DS who was 2 at the time! His case was mild compared to mine. I see why they say getting them as an adult is terrible. After that experience I started having my first MS symptoms. I had no idea that it would take 18 years for it to come back to haunt me.

Yes, getting Chicken Pox when you are older is awful. The oldest got it when at age 12 and got really sick. The next at 10 and was fine enough. The youngest at 6 and no trouble at all. I always believed in exposing them when they are young.

I was young when I got Chicken Pox and that's a long time ago. We had everything that came around. Mumps is another one a person doesn't want to get when they are older. No vaccines then and that's fine.
