Several months ago I experienced numbness on the right side of my face with my eyelid drooping. Some of the numbness gradually went away. But my eyelid has stayed drooping. The last few weeks I'v noticed the same side of my face is swollen and seems to be staying this way. I'm not sure if I'm loosing the muscle tone also, as that side of my chin is looking like it has a jowel hanging from it...and on down into my neck.
Has anyone experienced this....is it the ms? or something else? Thank you. ![]()

Almost sounds like Bells Palsy. I had a episode of it back in 2005 right after I was dx.....but the neuro I was seeing then said it wasn't associated with MS. I think it was. Anyway, I lost tone in the right side of my face and I can still notice it today. Others might not notice it but I do. It's only in the lower part of my face. Are you able to blink normally? I'd check with the doctor just to be on the safe side.

No advice, just a silly note. Years ago when I was a kid, my father had Bells Palsy and his one eye wouldn't close all the way. Thinking it was really weird, I used to bring in all my little friends to see it. Poor guy...
![]() I do hope yours clears up soon. ![]()

Yup, sounds like Bells Palsy. When I had it I wasn't diagnosed yet. The ER gave me a steroid taper and an antiviral.
It disappeared within a few weeks, but my one eye still droops slightly sometimes when I'm tired. You should get it checked out just to make sure it wasn't a stroke. There is something about the forehead wrinkling when you try to lift your eyebrows?? The dr may also want you to tape your eye shut when you sleep to make sure it doesn't dry out and cause permanent damage. Last edited by jacksonsmommy; 03-15-2012 at 10:19 AM. Reason: spelling |

When I was dx with MS, they thought I had bells. Once we looked at the MRI report, I had a lesion under my left eye. So, it was not Nells, it was a MS lesion. When I am tired or stressed, that spot always swells and gets puffy. Not so noticeable to others, but I feel it.
