Default Finished my IVSM, but....

now I've got a heck of a sore throat. Did it give me some sort of thrush/yeastie beastie type of thing? I took a couple of Azo yeast pills, but I'm going to go to the doctor tomorrow to make sure it's not a seasonal allergy or a viral type of sore throat (because the steroids lower resistance...I have the sniffles too) My tongue hurts too, which is why I'm wondering if I got "thrushed".

I can see a little on my peripheral vision, everything is still whited out in the central vision, kind of looks like I'm standing in a pea soup fog. I still cant read my computer screen with that eye, but I can see where my computer is...shadowy looking in the white fog.

But the best part about the steroids so far is that it seems to have really helped with the optic nerve pain. I can still feel that a little bit, but I no longer feel like I want to curl up into the fetal position around my optic nerve every time I blink or move my eye. Hope the optic nerve doesnt get fired up again with the pain. I've had CONSTANT eye pain for an entire month! Yesterday was the first time it didnt hurt at all when I was up there getting filled up with steroid-ish goodness. The weird vision crap didnt even start up until last friday (a week ago from the friday we just had)

It wasnt the vision weirdness so much that sent me screaming to the neuro/and or my regular doctor for the IVSM. It was that pain. It was bad and not even tramadol would touch it. Cant wait to call my neuro tomorrow to tell him it seems he was right that the 'roids would do a lot of good on that pain.

Then when I go see the regular doctor I have kiss his feet for getting me into the infusion center as fast as he did. (like within an hour of me calling him!) and they also did it over the weekend!!! Best service ever! I dont even have a bruise on my right arm like the other times I'd had it done at the other infusion center! I woke up this morning, sleeping on my IV port and scaring the crap out of myself because I was all worried that I knocked it loose. It was weird that I was on top of my right arm. I sleep exclusively on my left side, so I was really surprised to find myself on top of the right arm this morning.

I have a bruise on my left arm because they had to make two attempts at sticking me tho. (knew I should have chugged a couple of bottles of water before I went up there.)

Erin, I'm glad to hear that the pain improved on the 'roids. I hope you continue to improve.

The pea soup fogginess is thinning out a teeny bit. Things are shadowy, but I can actually tell that there's something there now thru the crappy eye. Cant really see specifics, but if I look at my computer with the bad eye, I can tell that there's a computer there. It's the general shape of my computer at least. I couldnt even see that much over the weekend thru that eye.

and all the stuff that was bugging me last fall and over Xmas (the drop foot and numbness from heck) feels a teeny bit better. I think I should have done IVSM back then instead of the $6 bottle of oral 'roids. Still walking a little weird, but some of that numbness changed quality.

Hope all these 'roids break whatever flare bubble I've been stuck in for the last 6 months and lets me feel better for a long time.

I got Thrush the last round of IVSM I did. Ask your MD for that swish and swallow medicine. its yellow, tastes gross, but will work great.

I hope you are feeling better and better.

I can read a little of the text on the screen with the bad eye as long as I dont try to read too fast, and keep my eye still. It's blurry tho, and it goes back and forth in quality and ability. But, I can actually see things out of my eye today. YAY! I couldnt see anything out of that eye over the weekend. That was scary!

The thrush-iness seemed to go away after I used some lactobacillius pills that I had. Still have the sniffles and a bit of a tummy ache. I hate choking down the oral pred, but I've done IVSM without a taper before and I'm never doing that again, so I'll put up with the nasty taste and tummy ache it gives if you dont drink water and eat something fast enough after taking the oral pred.

I'm just glad that the steroids feel like they're working this time. The oral pred that I had around xmas didnt do a thing for me (except give me the crazies). I can feel the IVSM doing something for me this time...I dont feel all stressed out on this stuff this time. That's what was scaring me out of asking for IVSM when the vision stuff started a couple of weeks ago. I was scared of getting the crazies from the steroids. Now I'm glad that I gave in and begged for the IVSM. If my eye hadnt hurt as bad as it did, I wouldnt have asked.

I just hope I get my good vision back and I dont have any leftover weirdness from all this. This was my "good" eye that went bad this time. I need my eyes! I crochet and knit all the time. I'm going to be really mad if I have leftover problems.
