One of my earliest symptoms--in fact, it was several years before we knew it was a symptom of something and connected it with my search for a diagnosis. One day at work I noticed that a spot that included my right upper lip, the corner of my nose, and a portion of my inner cheek about the size of a half dollar was numb. Like light novocaine. It puzzled me, but didn't really scare me.
When it continued a few (?) days, I made an appointment. By the time I got to the PCP, it was pretty much over. It lasted maybe a week, 10 days. The doctor diagnosed it as likely "a mild neuritis" and asked if I wanted to be referred to a neurologist. I didn't. I went home and researched neuritis a little, and decided I wouldn't worry about it until/unless it happened again or grew worse, which it never did.
