Default The Ahh, Aha, and Genie bra for MS hug??

I have a terrible time with MS hug. it can be really bad, and throwing a bra on top of it is awful! I had a double mastectomy and around the house and town go without a bra/breasts as I cant take the squeeze.

Saw an infomercial about the Ahh bra. it didnt have a way to pop in my prosthetic so I looked around till I found ones that have a soft padded insert (to hide nipple show thru) I ordered it. it said use your shirt size as a guide. I chose a size up as I am more comfy without the squeeze. they arrived in the mail yesterday.UGH! OMG TIGHT...TOO TIGHT! I looked and the woman had sent me the wrong size! I thought the straps were too far towards the arm, the neck was too wide, and the band at the rib cage DID roll! and quickly. it is supposed to be roll proof. Went back to Amazon and had to ask the sellers permission to return since its underwear. Told her the try on story and she agreed to take them back. She pushed hard for me to buy a larger size. I didnt want to jinx the return so I said I had to wait for the credit back to my card before I could afford new ones.

colors, can we talk colors? They only come in a 3 pack. you must buy the black/white/tan pack or the jem tone of red/blue/green. you cant ask for 1 white or or even 3 white ones, you must get the three color pack. im not a fan of black, and while I dont mind tan, I would prefer good old fashioned white.

Went to QVC and found the genie bra. Watched the video, read the reviews and folks love them. I ordered the "vintage color" pack. Again, why cant I just have white? This is lavender, pink, soft grey and some other color. a 4 pack but it was more expensive than the Ahhh bra with inserts. who cares if this works!

Anyone else use these? do they help? I would love the idea of "just go braless" if I didnt have to pop in a prosthetic when I go to church or family get together (so folks dont stare) and have gone many places flat chested and braless, but I really should put something on.

If you have these or want these, please tell me the MS hug experience with them. Did they help? are they not worth the money? Just google Ahh bra or Genie bra if you want to know what I am talking about.

I have read about them on-line, seen them on TV and at WalMart. I didn't think that they would be that easy to struggle to get on and off. Maybe I'm wrong there. At any rate, I have decided not to try one. I imagine they work for some people.

Another one is the Genie bra. (Google it). I wonder about that one too. But that's just me.

I ordered the Genie bra. Cross your fingers. I cant go braless if I want breasts, so I must have a way to contain the prosthetic and it would look just odd to duct tape them on.

the Ahh bra (or whatever the infomertial calls it) was way to tight for me - even when not having the joyful Hug. I also had a hard time just getting hte thing on when I tried on my MIL (a much larger size than I wear). I say thumbs down to the Ahh bra, IMO

As for what to waer when you have to wear your prosthetics- what about a smallish/snug cotton tank top under your dress/clothes?? Would that perhaps work or would your breast inserts fall down to your knees (talk about a "contribution" during the offering...)

never tried any other type of these bras. I usually wear a bra and suffer for those short trips that require I dont have "headlights" showing - the majority of the time I go without anything under my shirt, but I am on the smaller size so most dont even notice. I wish you luck!!!

I have to have a pocket for them to sit in, or they slide under and out. if they are not held secure, when I lean forward, they do a back flip and land on the floor. I have picked them up and kept moving more times than I can count. The new mastectomy bras have enclosed pockets, so once they are in there, they are in there. They have tradition closures tho and Whooo! too tight! I feel like I have broken ribs and someone put a tight belt on me.

Right now I am using a front closing bra and I undo the bottom 2 or 3 clips. It leaves only 1 or 2 holding the whole thing together, but I cant stand it!

I really do look obvious when i go without. its clear I have NO breasts. not just tiny ones, its clear there is something wrong. I just struggle between looking normal enough to not have folks stare, and being bent over in pain. DH always says "who cares?! let um look" I love that man.

What a problem! I commiserate, because bras have always been misery for me. I must have ones either all cotton or cotton with just outside synthetic. I must change and wash daily because I seem to do all my sweating under my breasts. I list to one side, even since I was a teenager with smaller breasts--I list no matter what I do to try not to, and I did so as a teen even when in superb health. So I always have one strap down my shoulder. My mom nagged me about standing up straight, of course, even though I was a ballet dancer...bra strap down the arm no matter what I tried. Used to wear those things you sew in shoulders to hold bra straps, but as I got older I said, that is one more thing to work on and my hands don't sew things well now either.

I'd though of trying AAh or Genie but they look like hard to get on, bad for my painful shoulder that needs an operation like the other one had, but I'm not up to more anesthesia risks or expensive trips out of state to a fine surgeon and anesthetist.

So I struggle along with the "Downtime bra" from Hanes catalog, which is mostly cotton and has good support, a hard combo to find. Or buy from the all cotton catalog called
Deva, using the sports bra they have, since it is the only one firm enough. They Hanes catalog has many bras to put protheses in, too. They have always been a good source for me.

I have much bigger breasts and rib cage than when younger, and my size has gone up.
I do sometimes wear a muumuu at home so I can be bra-less. Muu-muus are a pretty good concealer as to what you have or have not. I see some for sale in the Vermont Country Store catalog but have not ordered. I used to have many muu-muus from Hawaii, but now they are all worn out or too small. I never expected to be a 40 C/D. What for? No nursing and vamping planned.

just want to say that a lot of the comments and oops moments have really brought a smile to my face

as for prost. bras and muumuus- look at Haband's and Dr Leonards. Cheap-ish and have a lot of the things you all are having a hard time looking for. My MIL and SIL swear by them for inexpensive clothes/muumuus and the bras you need.

Thank again for all the visuals and laughs this day!

got the Genie bra. MUCH more comfy altho its a bit snug. I am going to send it back, and get a larger size. I think this will do the trick.

I hate bras, but without the bra, I have no breasts. They do make some that you stick on with glue or tape strips but I cant imagine those would be secure.
