Default Now what

After being on neurontin for about six months, I sit here in this chair, at 12:30 a.m., trying to understand what's wrong. I told my doc that I have a high tolerance for meds (giving him the number to my dentist & telling him that meds just wear off for some reason).

I'm taking neurontin 3 times a day. 300 mg each...900 mgs a day. I know that my body has adjusted to it & overcome the affect of it. How do I know this? I am sitting here, typing (or whining--oh where did that cheese platter go?), while my arms feel heavier & heavier, they itch incessantly & my shoulder blade, left side of my face & left eyeball have a circus of pins & needles going on. I know that by 2 a.m., I will be willing to trade a major organ for relief.

So, what now?

I don't want to up the dose of something I know is going to wear off & I don't want to be a whinner...especially since I didn't really want to take this at all. HELP...

Hello n2n,

I am sorry that you are the 'night watch' as well and wish that there was something that those in our situation could do, take or whatever...so that relief and sleep weren't such strangers to us.
At my end, the body has been having another go round with TM and bilateral ON symptoms for the past week; so I share your frustration.

The primary consolation seems to be that generally, the symptoms that are here now for us, in time will change and hopefully for the better.

I'm thinking about trying LDN; as most medications either don't work for me or make other symptoms worse.
Have you considered it? Maybe because it is such a low dose, your body wouldn't have the same reaction of metabolizing or 'getting used to it' as it has with other meds.

Maybe I can write more later, but am having a lot of pain and the eyes aren't cooperating now.

Hang in there my friend and know that you are not alone.

With love, Erika

Is this pain and tingling in a new location? Or something you've had before? You might want to run it by a doc if it's new--we don't dare chalk everything up to MS.

Nope, not new, more incessant but I guess if you give your body medication to shut it up & it escapes....it's gonna run wild .

Sometimes ya just wanna go in a field somewhere (without cows...don't wanna screw up the milking schedule) and SCREAM~~not that it would help.

I know there are worse things to be afflicted with (a couple of friends are currently fighting cancer; either themselves or a child), so it's not such a concern, but a lil down time on this would be welcome.
