Confused Did I just deal with The MS Hug?

Last night as I was getting ready for bed I felt a bit of a headache starting.. I thought no biggie.. took an Advil (plus the rest of my nightly med cocktail.) and went to lay down..

I would say about 5-10min after my head hitting the pillow I started to get this pain/burning/pressure all around my chest and back, it came on kind of quick and then proceeded to become almost unbearable over the course of a few min. after a bit it started to also spread into my arms/hands and neck..and became more of a sharp constant pain/pressure.. if that wasn't enough I started to feel like I wasn't getting enough air.. I could take a deep breath no problem.. but it just felt as if it wasn't registering in my swiss cheese brain.

I really have no idea when it ended because I either passed out from my nightly meds (they make me pretty drowsy) or the pain knocked me out... but it def went on for a good 1/2hr.

Since I woke up this morning the pain was mostly gone, just a dull ache here and there.. but I have kept feeling just "out of it" all day.. spent most of the day in bed trying to sleep it off but no such luck so far..

any input/ideas would be helpful.

I don't know Punk, but if it were me, I would think 'heart attack"!! Some can be mild like that, but, just in case, I wouldn't sit around waiting for the next one.

It could be what you thought, but check with your Doc anyway..

Sally, that is the first thought that popped in my head too.. but I had just seen my cardiologist a couple of months ago and did the stress test, echo, all that fun stuff and I checked out fine..
not to say It couldn't come out of nowhere though.

I agree with Sally, a few of the symptoms you mentioned aren't typically part of the "hug". I'd want to get it checked, just in case.

I agree with the other posters - better safe than sorry. There are worse things out there than MS....and we aren't immune(sadly) to any of them. Get yourself checked!

Went to my cardiologist this morning.. got all checked out again.
It is not my heart..
It is not my MS..

it is.... *drum roll* acid reflux! uuugghhh

sad thing is I have been taking something for that for a few years now.. never had it hit me like that before though, guess it is time to call my PCP and see about getting a higher dose or different med. at least that is all it was.

For years I took Tagamet for Hiatal (sp?)l Hernia - Nausea, an acid reflex. It was pre-MS DX, never have had a problem since. Maybe.......... I don't know. Was dizzy and walking like a drunk pre-MS DX. Was stress induced and my stomach has always been my weakest part.

Ive been thru the exact same thing. Pain was so bad in my chest it literally knocked me off my feet. Went to ER and was admitted and found out acid reflux. Never knew it could feel like a heart attack! Glad your ok and nothing serious!
