H Erin

I hope that all goes well with your mum, that your dad is able to cope with everything that's going on, and that you are feeling some benefit from the steroids.

All last night they were told me it was a stroke. My dad had me so freaked out because he was talking about funerals

This morning around 1 AM my dad decided to go up to the hospital because he was stressed out and didn't want to stay at home. He said he walked into the room. And my mom talk to him. She apparently was asking where I was. I was home freaking out. I'm all hopped up on steroids, and I was trying to get some sleep.

So now they're saying not a stroke. I keep asking my dad that. You know to make sure that it's not a stroke. Now they're saying it's probably some sort of meningitis. I don't know if they're sure about that yet. But they are looking in to see if it's West Nile virus because we sit outside a lot in the summer.

I am still so freaked out about this, probably because I'm hopped up on steroids right now. I have to wait till she's home and screaming at me for ruining something. Maybe we should tell her I stole 8 dollars out of her wallet yesterday for lunch. That'll get her yelling at me.

I hope the stress of this did not push my MS over the edge. My hands are still numb and tingly, I'm still using the voice recognition software on my computers, and I'm using my iPad's voice recognition to write this.

I slept till almost one this afternoon and missed my time to take my oral steroids

That might be why my hands are all tingly right now. Normally have been getting the IV at 8 o'clock in the morning.

I keep calling my dad, and I keep asking him to make sure wasn't a stroke. I'm probably going to keep doing that for my mom is home and yelling at me for stealing eight dollars from her wallet.

I am still a little worried that my mom is contagious if it's a meningitis. Hopefully it's nothing contagious. I don't want to have to take antibiotics too.

I'm going back to bed.

Are you alone, Erin? Might it be a good idea to have someone with you?

Yeah I'm home alone but I'm fine

I managed to make with myself something to eat, I even put laundry in the washer. Right now I'm just sitting here reading not doing much. My dad is my mom is doing better. He said he'd be home later to feed me. He's going to go to bed And sleep too hopefully.

My aunt said that my mom should be home in three or four days, My aunt is a nurse practitioner, And is usually right about everything. So hopefully my aunt is rightAnd my mom will be fine.

My dad said my mom is sitting up in a chair now, Sleeping a lot but she's sitting upAnd she's talking. So they're pretty sure it was meningitis or West Nile Not a stroke.

Hopefully my mom will be better pretty soon

I'm going to go read some more and hope that my dad is home Soon cause he needs to sleep And eat. And I want to eat real food So hopefully he'll stop and get us Cheeseburgers, And then we all go to sleep.

I hope my hands get better soon because I'm tired of using the voice recognition software It doesn't translate well Sometimes

I'm really hoping this Flair of mine wasn't triggered by what triggered my moms meningitis. I haven't had any symptoms like my mom So I think it's coincidental that I had a flare and she had Meningitis. My only worry is that I might have to have Antibiotics. It takes three days To culture A spinal tap. The fact that they're Not giving my dad or me anyAntibiotics. they must think that it's not needed To give family members and antibiotic.

I'm just glad it wasn't a stroke

I'm also kind of glad I was having a flair Because if we hadn't going to the infusion centerMy mom would've been home sick all day And we wouldn't of known. So glad I was sick and then we noticed she was sick and got her to the ER. The one time I'm grateful for the MS.

That's what I call "digging for the bright side"!

Here's hoping you and your Mom get better quickly!

It worries me that you talk about getting something to eat but I don't see anything about actually eating. You're eating, right? You can at least slap together a sandwich?

Do you need to talk to the infection control doctor or nurse that you had talked to before? I'm sure given the circumstances they could give you some more information about your Mom and what this might mean to any treatment you or your Dad might need. But you need reassurance from a hospital source and not just from your Dad.

I did eat something. I snacked on cereal. My parents have those nutrition shakes and they like to drink for breakfast, There are good brand that you get from Costco. I drink the nutritional shake with my steroids while nibbling on some dry cereal.

My dad got home tonight,And we ended up going down to my favorite Greek restaurant and split a gyro together. The gyros are huge so it wasn't like we starved by splitting it. Plus we both have some really good soup and some pita bread.

I had to eat with my fingers cause I can't really use a fork very well yet, I did manage the soup spoon. At least gyros are pretty much finger food if you want to go that way.

It's my favorite restaurants so all the waitresses were happy to see me, They've really distressed to find out my mom Was in the hospital. At least we were able to Get something good to eat

Tomorrow I'm going to be eating the yogurt That my dad had stockpiled. I figure that will go good with the oral steroids. I don't like the protein shakes but at least it was something in my stomach. My big plan is just keep drinking water all weekend.

My mother called me tonight. She got the nurse to dial the phone. So my mom was feeling better enough to call. She sounded all groggy and tired and Sick, But she was awake enough to call and know who we were.

I hope things resolve soon and that they get a handle on the dx. Can meningitis bring on a stroke? Is there another facility you can take her to for a different opinion? best
