I was only given a choice of avonex or rebif. I was going to ask him about that Aubagio stuff too, but I know from our prior conversations regarding bg12 that he won't prescribe me a new drug until its been out at least 6 months. He said he'd only do that for patients that were in bad shape and failing with other meds, but for me doing "relatively" ok he didn't want the risk of the new med.

What are IM and SQ? I don't think I could do copaxone. I'm terrified enough of weekly injections. I don't think I could stick with daily. If it wasn't a daily injectable I would take copaxone over all the others in a heartbeat. It seems less like poison. A little anyway. But I don't think I could do it.

They will all cause lumps bumps and burning. Avonex less so. These lumps and bumps are very bad in the beginning- it will make you wonder how anyone stays on them. The interferons will give you a bad 2 day flu that slowly gets better over time.

Oh and is the tegretol (did I get that right?) something I have to take all the time, or just when the TN flares up?

Oh I got IM and SQ now. Intramuscular and subcutaneous. Sorry, slow on the uptake there.

Whatever med you take for TN will probably be episodic. If you develop constant pain (me), you take it every day.

Please let us know how this afternoon goes. Maybe your doc has an idea of what he would like you to try. I would ask why only 2 choices? Where are you as far as a country?

I'm in Florida. I'm not sure why just the 2 choices, but it might be my fault. I expressed some... uh... ANXIETY (to put it mildly) about injecting lol. Probably why the avonex (1/week) and rebif (smaller needle) choices.

He put me on Neurotonin. And I signed up for the avonex pen, but I'm still unsure if I can actually take the first shot. I'm really uneasy about the interferons.
